I had to drive from Hayward to Santa Rosa today for a job interview. On the way back had to make a stop at Vic Hubbards then drove the last 4 miles home on the back roads. The whole trip was like 155 miles and I got stuck in traffic in Berkeley on the way home for about 15 minutes. All said and done I averaged 28.2 mpg's for this whole trip. Does this sound about right for a 2008 4.6 Mustang. Take into consideration it is a Bullitt which is 50-70 lbs lighter than a GT but it has 3.73 gears.

Ehh, doesn't sound too far off. I took my old GT to SF and back and it got 27 mpg with 4.10's.. That was years ago though. I'd think a brand new car should get better mileage since everything on it is... brand new.

how are you calculating your mpg. if you only drove a short distance and didnt use up all your gas, how do you know approximately how many gallons you used? 28mpg sounds really high even with a tailwind

divided the miles i went by the amount of gallons it took to top off the car. I am out of work and am going on alot of job interviews so i wanna make sure I have a full tank each day i go out.

sounds about right actually. On the s197 boards most GT's with gears are in the mid 20s.

I just calculated a second ago gettin 135miles with half a tank left i got about 17mpgs. What i noticed killed me on gas was when i added the o/r h pipe.

28 mpg does sound high. went i went to sac in my stang for work i kept track of my gas and miles in detail and i ended up doing 17.61 mpg with a strait freeway and no traffic. i know your stang is newer and lighter but that would be a really big diff. power to you though if you some how pulled that off.

I was kinda surprised too cause I know with city/freeway average I usually am at about 20. But on the santa rosa trip I was driving like an old lady. Also I found out that ford computer that track gallons used and MPG's is totally wrong.

That sounds kinda high to me too. I only get about 12-14 mpg. So I parked it and only drive it on occasion. Question, can I get your car because a 28 mpg V8 stang sounds appealing? j/p [Big Grin]

2008 GT w/5spd.
AVG over 25+ MPG traveling at speeds ranging from 65-85 MPH to Tahoe from Albany.

Once averaged 32+ MPG while following race trailer to Sac from the bay.

On daily basis of mixed driving mostly street, I average ~19 MPG.

I didn't know they did so well. I'm trading in my 94 accord for 08/09 GT.

caveat being...I baby the car and that the car is mechanically stock. If I'm "on it", fuel mileage plummets.

Got 24-25 in an 88 5.0 on a roadtrip across NorCal. So it's definately believable.

my 91 with a 331 supercharger on highway trips will get over 20 with 3.73 and a 5 speed. Going the speed limit will greatly improve milage.
I slowed my motorcycle down on the freeway on a trip and picked up over 5 mph. I then go away from the pack, my fun increased but milage suffered lol.

I would get 22 on the HWY with my 07 Mustang GT at about 80 to 85.
