Hey, my house got broken into after 2am last night. I know because I left at 1:30am for work. I got home at shit was everwhere like a tornado occured. lucky I just moved in 2 months ago so most of my valuible junk is still at my friends house. I think people are casing the place. none of my friends know I live here yet. Im waiting for the police to contact me for a full report. -- Anyways Im cosidering buying a shotgun for next time- in the event im home I was gonna run out to like to big 5 and pick up a h&R pardner 18"barrel 6rd pump shotgun for like $200. but then I thought hmm, I can afford somthing way better. You guys have any suggestions Can you buy a Benelli M4 semiauto shotgun in C.A? I dont think you can have the stock?so?...thats a bad ass gun Is there somthing simular to the benelli that at least holds more than 3 rounds? I'd invest in a alarm and surveillance before I do any of the other stuff.

+1 If they break in again theyll probably get your nice new gun if your not there, and if your there it may be used to murder you.Something to think about.

I agree, an alarm sounds like the best choice.

Yes, the Benelli M4 is CA legal, expensive but worth the money. I picked up a Mossberg 500 50580 for $260, added an ATI AR-15 stock, a side saddle for the stock, and night sights. Loaded with KO sabot slugs and LEO #8 buckshot, ready to do work if neccessary.

Thats a pure waterfowl gun. He doesnt need anything near that. Just pick up a remington 870 express pump shotgun around $300. Ive been robbed before and there isnt an alarm system made that could calm the feeling you have of someone in YOUR home. Any firearm will help you sleep better, trust me.

Move your girlfriend or somebody you trust in and train them with a gun. Since you have a weird work schedule. Someone is always at my house with a loaded gun, and my neighbors are never home. In fact I think my neighbor's house got broken into because he hasn't been home for a while and his backyard looks like someone forced their way in...

I would go with just a regular pump action shotgun. Remington 870 is cheap and can be easily modified to hold 8 rounds in it. You can pick this up at the big 5 as well. Pretty versatile little unit that you can use for home defense and take to the range.
The most recognized sound worldwide is a pump action shotgun's "click-clack" This sound itself with make the burlger thing twice before creeping further into your home.
I went through a similar experience and here is my security precautions:
1. alarm system with front/back door sensors as well as motion sensors for when I am not at home. 2. Springfield XD 45 handgun easily accessible in my bedroom for when they break in while I am sleeping. 3. Benelli nova pump action 12 guage in my garage if i happen to come home with a burglary in progress.
After buying a gun, make sure you and your household is trained in shooting the guns so they can protect themselves if need be as well.

I always find it very interesting when I hear stories about people leaving for work or something then their house gets broken into…
The reason being, is it only proves 1 of 2 things (or both actually) are happening… somebody who knows your work schedule is coming over when they know you are gone, or somebody has been watching your house.
Do you have anything valuable that somebody you know might want to take?
If you get a gun, get a good gun cabinet for it with a key that you can put on your key chain that has your car keys etc etc.
I would go with a shotgun. Put the cabinet in the room you sleep in and start locking your bedroom door when you sleep at night. That way if you hear somebody come in your house you have plenty of time to get up and greet them with a 12 gauge tactical shotgun.
Make sure you buy the gun legally, though, because if you end up shooting somebody the first thing the cops will ask you for is a permit for the weapon. If you don’t have a permit, you will probably spend some time in prison.
Also, I would not leave your girl there by herself for a while.
If I were you I would try to get them to come back after you get your shotgun. Bait them… maybe leave your door unlocked and put something up against the door so when they open it to come in it makes a lot of noise and wakes you up.
I don’t know… things to think about…

Hate to say it, but I strongly disagree. A short barrel tactical shotgun is a lot more intimidating than a little 9mm.
I would bet money that if you heard some dude breaking into your house and cocked a 12 gauge that mother fucker would hear that shit and go running. Pretty intimidating sound imo...

In that case just download a sound byte of a cocking shotgun...lol. I'd go hand gun too.

mount THIS FUCKER to your wall next to your bed. Opens in less than a second from finger print identification. What kind of loaded gun you keep in there I have NO knowledge but it's a sick as fuck safe in my opinion.

its not going to matter what model shot gun you buy...if you are home all you need is to pump it once. just that sound will send 9 out of 10 people running the fuck out.
or get good house insurance and a box of grenades

Personally, a pump shotgun racking doesn't scare me. Me in ready stance with .45 vs someone with a shotgun in low ready = headshot. Keep your main gun loaded and ready for action. The sound of a load action can expose you to a trained robber.
Keep 3 shells in the shotgun so the spring doesn't wear out, grab some more shells and load and go. Also keep the shells out and not in the box, they are no good in there.
