dont buy one....i will never own another ford truck from 00-03 with the 5.4l or small v8. i had a larit 02 f-150 and it gave me nothing but problems with 60,000 miles on it... 2 cylinders shot the spark plugs out... and no they wernt cross threaded, come to find out it a pretty common problem with the expeditions and ford trucks.

03 later being the better ones with more threads on the heads.
But to tell you truth if your not neglectful of your vehicles then the spark plug issue isn't really an issue.
I love both my supercharged trucks.

The spark plugs blowing out is a problem with all 4.6 and 5.4L engines, from 1997 to 2008. It is a rare occurance (I see maybe one or two a month) but it happens and it sucks. The old fix used to be to replace the cylinder head, then some sketchy spark plug thread repair kits came out, then some really good kits came out. Ford recommends the Lock-N-Stich kit, the procdure is outlined in TSB 07-21-2. It's a pretty straight forward repair, the only thing that varies is the labor rate the shop charges. I've never had one come back (for the same cylinder at least) after installing a spark plug thread insert.

when it happend to me it was the front passenger side spark plug. i fixed it and didnt know this was a problem, drove the truck for about 200 mile and the plug right behind the one i fixed went out.
