I think those things are junk. Better off just going with a good battery like an Interstate.

i would go with a kinetik 800. this is soo much better then the red tops. 900 CCA and you can get them from ebay for like $129 shipped. there mostly used in the car audio world.

I have to agree red top optims are junk however once I got my yellow top zero problems. I went thru 2 of the red ones in like 6 months.

It's a hit or miss. I think the quality control went down through the years. I recently purchased two red tops from costco about a year and half ago. Both of them had dead cells. But the replacement I got runs like a champ. [ June 23, 2008, 04:12 PM: Message edited by: essasin ]

I love the yellow top in my coupe (parked a lot) and the red top in my 97 (used to be in the coupe).
never had a problem unless I was an idiot and left an accessory running for a few days, but even then it easily recharges if you have a good quality battery charger.

I have a red top in my F-150 and a yellow top in my 77' Bronco and have had NO problems, and the best thing is they don't gas off, and you can mount them any way you want even upside down. You don't get all the corrosion. Here's a shocker the stock battery in my 95' F-150 lasted me 11 years. Of course when it went I was out of town, so I got the optima and have had no problems. I also have access to Optima and get them cheaper than Costco or 4wheel parts.
