ok guys I'm trying to buy my first hand gun. I'm looking at a Springfield XD 40. What do you think or what other hand gun do you recommand? I'm Also trying to get a big gun, like a sniper rifle or something else, I just want something that turns head at the shooting range, not sure yet what?

I have over 30,000 rounds through my first xd 40 and love it. It is a very reliable, feature packed gun for the price. I also have an xd compact in .40 which makes a great carry gun. I have had my first xd since 2001 and had sprinfield do some custom work to it. It has hard chrome plating on all the metal parts, a trigger job and trijicon sights. It is a dream to shoot. The thing I like about any springfield product is the lifetime warranty. Believe me, they back it up and not too many gun manufacturers have anything similar. IMO you cant go wrong with an XD. Hope this helped.

get a glock or a sig sauer in a same .40 or even a 9mm instead. they're both really good reliable guns and they're durable if you're only going to have one gun.

xd's are excellent entry level guns.imo sig's and kimber's are the nicest if you plan on range shooting alot.but the kimbers and sigs are expensive.my first was an xd45 and is still one of my faves.

my first was an xd45 and i loved it. Very user friendly and a well rounded fire arm. But like others mentioned SIGs are a great gun that i love more than anything. [patriot]

I have a Kimber Custom and a Knight Hawk custom which blows away any other gun i have shot. Expensive but if you buy one its the kind of gun that you would never have to replace. both are .45's

Get a Sig! [worship] I have a p229. When at the acadamy we use a 226 and a 239. Hands down winner, but can be expensive.

all semi have the possibillty of a jamb or failure, much less so if you take proper care of your weapon, the best way to chose a weapon is what feels comfortable to you they all have their ups and downs if you chose a sub compact and you have an average size and use a grip extension that attaches to the clip, good luck and be safe

Navid,

I will take you out shooting when I get back from vacation. I have plenty for you to try before buying. Getting into guns is like getting into cars many different preferences and options.

Get a gun that feels fits your hand and you feel comfortable shooting. My overall recommendation is gonna be a Sig.

Also people at my work are FFL's that will pass my hook up pricing to you.

hey edwin, get the glock 19 its a really good all around gun. it's small and the 9mm is easier to shoot and packs a lot of ammo. i use to have one gave it to my nephew. back then i had the 15rd magazine plus one in the chamber. nowadays you can only get a 10rd. but it was flawless gun! i'm getting another one of those baby glocks in a 9 again.

Ok I paid $500 for the xd with two clips, holster and clip holster, it was about $40 cheaper then anywere in town (the guy I purchased it from has even better guns way cheaper you would find in a store, he sells out of his own home to friends and family only- Fully LEGAL) The guy also had an AR 15 for $1100 (fully legal looks like this) -

I fiqure once I put a light, scope and a short range lazer guide on it it would be about $1700.00, I like it but I was affraid I couldn't take it to any range's???

hey someone said its legal with a pistal grip? how? how much if I build it myself?

he said about @$1100.00 + tax and reg fee.

Its easy to build an AR.
If the magazine is fixed you can have any evil features you want, front pistol grip, flare launcher, telescoping stock, overall length has to be more than 30 inches though and the barrel has to be longer than 16 inches.

If you have an AR15 your risking the possiblity of a police officer not knowing the laws about them and arresting you thinking its an Assault rifle. No one so far who has been arrested has been charged with anything. Some ranges might not let you shoot it and most likely none of them will let you bumpfire it or rapid fire it.

bullet button is only a 4 dollar option in parts, which is still ca legal depending on how you look at it because it takes tools to take out the mag, still put a 20 30 or drum on it.

Its a varmint, heavy barrel. Comes with a stock like the M40A3. I paid a good price for it, the scope alone is worth more than the actual rifle.

My AR always turns heads especially when i fire a round off, no one expects such a small round to make a big bang.

my recievers get here monday. Time to order the uppers one in .223 and the other in a .308 or .458nato. Spikes makes multi round recievers so i can fuck the DOJ by making a 50 cal if i want, expensive to shoot though. Got a .22 to for cheap fun at the range.

Got a .22 to for cheap fun at the range.

$12 for 500 rounds that's the way to go for cheap fun!!!

The Ruger 10/22 is on sale at Sports Authority for $179.99 same price I bought mine for a couple months ago.

I added a good red dot scope and a 25 round magazine to mine. The 10/22 has been around for years and has probably the most aftermarket upgrades available.

Alot of guys hate on them, but I have a Hi-Point C9 9mm, cheap and very reliable. So far, I have 900 rounds through mine and NEVER had a jam or any problems. Plus, you can't argue with the no-questions-asked lifetime warranty from the factory, also, they always send an extra mag back to you.

As for a sniper rifle, I personally own a 91/30 Mosin Nagant. It's rugged, reliable, fires a 7.62x54 round, and I have seen them hit 18" targets from 900 yards. Another upside, they can be had for under $100.

I hate it when people come out with "I had this, but you should get this" A hand gun is a personal choice. If you are a first timer this is what I would recommend. Go to a range that rents handguns, rent several different kinds, and which ever one fits your hand and you feel comfortable with, buy it up. I learned to shoot with a glock, but ended up with xd's because I liked the grip angle more. Happy Hunting!

thanks a lot, my buddy has a glock but i just liked how the xd felt compared to the glock and the fact that the xd had more safety devices to it and this is my first gun so safety was the main priority for me
