Go to the docs, but i can almost garantee you, that they are going to tell you to take a break for a couple weeks (at least), and ICE!!!
Good Luck!

USING HEAT RELAXES THE MUSCLES BUT CAN LEAD TO MORE TEAR.ESPIECALLY WHERE MUSCLES ARE USED ALOT, USING HEAT EXPANDS THE MUSCLE. IF YOU USE HEAT, USE A WRAP AFTER! WHEN I TORE MY HAMSTRING THE TRAINERS USED ICE AND THOSE ELECTRIC THINGS THAT MAKE YOUR MUSCLES TWITCH. AND ALWAYS STOOD IN A ICE BATH FOR 15 MINS. NEVER USED HEAT.
EITHER WAY, TORE OR JSUT PULLED/ STRAINED, STAY AWAY FROM HIGH MOVING ACTIVITY AND STAY OFF YOUR FEET AS MUCH AS YOU CAN.
TAKES A WHILE FOR ANY KIND OF MUSCLE INJURY TO HEAL BACK TO AS IT WAS BEFORE, IF IT EVER.. [ February 01, 2008, 07:24 PM: Message edited by: SVT'S FINEST ]

This is what I use to do after my long runs.......fill a tube cold asss water and add several buckets of ice sit there for 15 min take 10 min break....repeat 2-3 times and take ibuprofin usually 800mg for no more than 3-5 days.....plyometrics and streching prevent injuries bud.....knock on wood I havn't had an injury that has taken me out for more than a day so far following proper technique/training/simply listening to your body telling you something hurts and you stoping..
Of course I'm not talking about quiting because of lactic acid build up. Anyone that has played sports or ran track can distiguish between both.
....and dont forget to drink plenty of water a day in advance during and after.
