I know of two Tacos that got their cats cut off at the Washington Hospital parking lot in Fremont. I couldn't believe it at first but didn't know the cats had platinum in them.

only the 96 and up cats have the platinum that's why they cost so much more, unfortunatley stealing these is nothing new.

... wouldn't it be easier to just break into a muffler shop???? no cutting and tons of brand new one's on the shelf???( sorry to the guy who owns the muff shop that get's broken into after reading this)

The factory Toyota cats have precious metals(platinum/iridium) inside...I guess they're worth a lot...It's about $1500. for a new cat for some cars...I work at a Toyota dealership...We like to call them "cat bandits"

thats happened to Sequioas as well! Ive seen 3 in my dealership come through as well! I cant believe no one hears the saw being used!

Maybe you could print this out and keep it in your car. If you get pulled over and the cops find out you don't have cats just show him the paper and tell him they were removed for safe keeping. ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)

my dad works at roadway in west sacramento, he said 4 toyota trucks have had the Cats cut out. I guess i have to watch out for my T100 now

I work for Midas and we see an average of 2 per week of mostly Toyota trucks and SUVs getting their cats stolen. None of em happy about the price of the cats and most of the times, they can't get universal ones, they have to buy the whole assembly.
One guy got soo pissed off he came back the next day after his cat was stolen to have us put a custom "cage" for his cats, funny, you have to do whatever it take to protect your sh!t.
