Try an 06 Subaru WRX thats when they went with the 2.5liter. I Ran 14.0 stock and probably can run a high 13. I average 24mpg mixed driving and can probably get 27-30mpg all highway. Its the best all round car I ever owned and can still corner in the rain. [ October 21, 2007, 01:14 AM: Message edited by: forced331 ]

I know this is probably not what you are looking to hear but.. I would get a 99-02 Mustang GT. You can pick one up for around $9k-$12k fully loaded with low miles. It will get 23-25mpg on the freeway AND it is a Mustang with a V8
The only downsides are that insurance will be expensive and you will probably not be able to resist the urge to modify it

Craigslist I looked for about 3 months or so and found an '01 GT, 5 speed, 49k miles, some minor mods, fully loaded, and paid $10.5k. This is a good time to buy b/c everyone is strapped during the holiday's. Just take your time and look at a few cars before buying. Mine was very reliable and a blast to drive.
