better hit up downieville, your not too far from it. 15$ gets you a shuttle from the bike shop in town to the top. one of the best rides i've ever done.

Cannondale recalled the Lefty forks for a repair issue, make sure you get it checked. Sweet rides. Go to MOAB if you can, nothing like it.

Nice. its been too long since i've been for a ride. my bike had a serious run in with my friends jeep which left the rear wheel taco'd. my new wheelset is still getting put together and i can't wait to get back on the trails!!

i did part of Pioneer trail last weekend. riding solo, i didn't really go as far as i might have with a partner. there's an empty lot next door to my house that i'm working on techniques and shit. gonna build some jumps and berms, maybe a rock garden...some trials stuff.

Can anyone recommend a few brands of bikes? There's so many new ones out there I don't even know who makes them anymore.

specialized, cannondale, rocky mountain, santa cruz, jamis, trek...
sadly schwinn (which i have had two great bikes by) has sold out to a toy's R us brand now and aren't making good bikes anymore
basically anything you get at a REAL BIKE STORE is gonna be good. bottom line, you get what you pay for. these days it seems like you gotta spend at least $1000 to get a decent mountain bike. although if you're just looking for an entry level, specialized's "Hard Rock" is pretty good for the price. i think they are around 400-500 now? could be wrong
