It depends...Which company and his record. When I was 23 progressive wanted close to $10,000 a year to fully insure my 03 636. I had no accidents and no tickets. [Eek!]

Once I got that quote I called up Mcgraw. For liability only it was like 200$ so I got that instead.

I think he had said i point on his record. So it is about 200 for liability and 600 for the works, give or take a couple hundred. Now i know this is a dumn question but do they look at the engine size and if its a race bike or not? Thanks fellas for the feedback.

Yes, they definitely look at engine size and model/make.

You must be kidding right? by this questions above I assume this will be his first bike. (If so talk him out of it will be the biggest and last mistake he'll make), most 600cc bikes are already fast enough for most riders, and a busa (1300CC) is not exactly a beginner bike. Or make sure he gets life insurance and buys a coffin before the bike, so he's family doesn’t have to deal with it.

He knows the bike he wants to purchase is one of the more faster bikes out there but if you have self control and respect the bike and youre surrounding does it really make a difference what size the engine of the bike is? If he wanted to buy the bike to be a dumnas$ on it then i would deffinately be talking him out of it, but he likes the style and how it looks and its going to be used mainly as a commuter. Is there something he should know about this type of bike other than its insanely fast that would make him think twice about buying it? thanks again guys for the input keep it coming.

Well first of all. If he wants to gain any type of skill riding he would go with a smaller bike. Sooner or later he is going to act like a dumb ass on the bike. Everyone does it, I dont care how responsible of a person you say he is.

This being his first and he has no experience at all will probably not add up to anything good. If I were you I would recommend to him to get a smaller bike. Have him ride a newer 600 cc bike. Tell him to get on it in first gear. I rode a hayabusa and in 3rd gear the pull was like a 600 cc bike but like 5x harder.

Being mature with the busa and all is great, but he can only make a "few" mistakes before he kills himself or someone around him. I have not met one street rider (including any amateur in AFM or AMA or whatever) that could possibly need more then a modern day 600 sportbike on the street. Plus...busa =King Squid if your around other motorcyclists;)

Anyway..back to the question...it also depends on what he is looking at as far as coverage goes. I recommend more life insurance then bike insurance [Wink]

self control is all god but at the heat of the moment that flies right out.busa is a great bike,it handles preety good on twisties also.onething your boy's got to worry about is the bike's response compare to a 600cc is a lot different..throttle response is crazy.if he doesn't want a 600cc why not 1000cc?atleast the new ones have a selector switch a,b,c for different riding skills.yeah I don't advise him going straight to a busa.

[Frown] this is gonna end ugly. First Bike.... get the baddest one made(one of them). Kind of like handing the keys to a 11 sec street car to your 16 year old kid because he is saying he will drive responsible.(untill the first guy tries to pass him)

+1. Hell even the new 600's would be more than I would want to start with. I have some experience with them but have never owned one so I have basically just cruised them and for Me it was like [Eek!] . He had better at least have a some experience with dirtbikes or something! I have My motorcycle licence and have ridden bikes since I was 7 year's old & owned quite a few bikes but would'nt even ride a Busa if given the chance. I would try to talk Him out of it if it were My friend [Wink] .
