Has anyone with a Hi-Flow catback had problems with smog or the police?

are you talking about the "high flow cats" or an actual catback? you don't necessarily need anything behind the cats. but it'd be loud.
the smog tech measures emissions. not volume. you could theoretically (sp?) have straight pipes after the cats, as long as your emissions are good (and you are stock, or have carb #'s)
the cop on the other hand, cares about the volume of the exhaust note, and teh CA state CARB legal parts

I don't know of any high flow cat'd h or x pipe with a carb number. So, technically they won't pass visual. I believe you need to have four cats to pass visual
This is assuming someone looks under the car to see what you've got

Maybe I've been lucky but I've had my car smogged three times. A ll three times with a Bassani X with hi-flow cats and passed all three times, visual and everything.

if they complain about the visual just say you bought the car with the current midpipe and it passed when he had it smogged. should pass with a little effort on its own too.

I am not at home now but I am 99% the 2 high flow catted H pipe I bought had carb #'s. They were expensive though $500+ 4 year's ago. I will check brand and for carb #'s when I get home tonight or tomorrow .
