anyone have any recommendations for a portable gps navigator? kinda looking at the offerings from garmin and tomtom or other navigators similar to them. its basically going to be used as a navigation device in my car so all the other frills that may be offered won't be needed.

I have the Garmin Nuvi 660 If I had it to do all over, I would still buy it !!! Bluetooth, built in mp3, 2 gigs of storage (maps take about 1 gig of that) FM transmitter so I can play the mp3 files over an FM station on my radio. Built in phone book, etc....
Used it to drive from Redding CA to Delray Beach FL and it worked perfect. During my trip I was getting tired and needed to find a hotel room, search the directory to find a hotel/motel along my current route. When I picked the one I wanted to check for rooms, it displayed the phone number. Called while driving down the road and reserved a room !!! GREAT FEATURE !!!!!!
Easily fits in a shirt pocket, the only downfall I see with it is when I use it outside of my vehicle, a full charge on the battery only lasts about 2 hours. But how many times are you going to need it to walk around that long?
