I found some merit is this. Not all do I agree with but I do think about how kids are now. There really aren't 'kids' anymore. More like wanna be thugs. Having kids makes you see this even more.

Reply:
Dear Concerned Student:
I am not allowed in schools.
Sincerely,
God
----------------------------------------------------------
How did this get started?...
-----------------
Let's see,
I think it started when Madeline Murray O'Hare complained
she didn't want any prayer in our schools.
And we said, OK..
------------------
Then ,
someone said you better not read the Bible in school,
the Bible that says
"thou shalt! not kill,
thou shalt not steal,
and love your neighbors as yourself,"
And we said, OK...
-----------------
Dr. Benjamin Spock said
we shouldn't spank our children
when they misbehaved
because their little personalities
would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem.
And we said,
an expert should know what he's talking about
so we won't spank them anymore..
------------------
Then someone said
teachers and principals better not
discipline our children when they misbehave.
And the school administrators said
no faculty member in this school
better touch a student when they misbehave
because we don't want any bad publicity,
and we surely don't want to be sued.
And we accepted their reasoning...
------------------
Then someone said,
let's let our daughters have abortions if they want,
and they won't even have to tell their parents.
And we said, that's a grand idea...
------------------
Then some wise school board member said,
since boys will be boys
and they're going to do it anyway,
let's give our sons all the condoms they want,
so they can have all the fun they desire,
and we won't have to tell their parents they got them at school.
And we said, that's another great idea...
------------------
Then some of our top elected officials said
it doesn't matter what we do in private as long as we do our jobs.
And we said,
it doesn't matter what anybody,
including the President,
does in private as long as we have jobs and the economy is good....
------------------
And someone else took that appreciation a step further
and published pictures of nude children
and then stepped further still by
making them available on the Internet.
And we said, everyone's entitled to free speech....
------------------
And the entertainment industry said,
let's make TV shows and movies that promote
profanity, violence and illicit sex...
And let's record music that encourages
rape, drugs, murder, suicide, and satanic themes...
And we said,
it's just entertainment
and it has no adverse effect
and nobody takes it seriously anyway,
so go right ahead.
------------------
Now we're asking ourselves
why our children have no conscience,
why they don't know right from wrong,
! and why it doesn't bother them to
kill strangers, classmates or even themselves.
------------------
Undoubtedly,
if we thought about it long and hard enough,
we could figure it out.
I'm sure it has a great deal to do with...
"WE REAP WHAT WE SOW,"
------------------
Pass it on
if you think it has merit! If not then just discard it...
but if you discard this thought process,
then don't you dare sit back and complain about
what bad shape this country is in!

Whoever wrote that has some balls to make bold statments especially about church vs state, child discipline and sex education. These issues could be argued and statistics can be thrown on both sides until everyone turns ford blue. But I do agree 100% about the negative impact of the entertainment industry.

More so than being religious...empiracal evidence has shown this kid to be extremely psychological/emotionally/mentally disturbed.
I'm sure that God didn't "tell" him to do it. Nice try though

Not to mention the fact that he sent over video, letters, and a manifesto to NBC between his shootings and somehow he saw himself as a sacrificial figure like jesus. This is probably the one case where describing someone as extremely psycho, emo, and mentally disturbed is an understatement.

I was never hit as a child, I am Not a religios person, Ive never had a abortion ( ha ha ) I watch movies that have violence and i listen to music that has profanity and i turned out just fine, never been in jail or killed anybody. This argument could go on forever and nobodys opinions would change. You could say that computers have made our kids obiese because they dont exercise... the list could go on and on but really its all bullshit that people have nothing better to do but sit there and try and find things that they dont agree with and say it has a effect on society.

Having god in schools wouldn't stop these shootings, people that kill another human being with no reason at all are messed up in the brain and putting god in their brains will just make them announce god told them to do it or announce some religion reason why they did it. Religion has started wars, thinking religion would stop shootings is crazy when people believing one thing will go attack another because they beleive something else.

The effect of the mass media is more of a symptom than source of the problems. Why are kids getting so much socialization and exposure to tv/internet/whatever? Those answers lie in the parenting or lack thereof.

Religion has nothing to do with why these things happen. People do bad things for many reasons.
I agree people do not dicsipline kids properly anymore. Kids do not know what is right from wrong, or choose to ignore it. When I was young, if I did something wrong, I FEARED the consequences. I knew I would be in deep trouble. Kids these days don't have that fear or worry. They don't respect others or their elders. Its unreal how much kids get away with. I know it makes me sick as a parent watching how spoiled kids get, and they just take, and take, without thinking about what it does to the next person.
Parents also need to stand up and be PARENTS. Stop laying low, and saying I am doing good by just saying no, and putting them on timeouts. That does nothing. Kids don't learn not to do something when all they have to do is sit in a corner for a few minutes ( we all know its only a few minutes now, becuase anything longer would be cruel and unusual torture.)
As a parent I am sick of excuses, and everyone else questioning my reasons and ethics and how I raise my kids. Butt the Fuck out, and let me be a parent. Something many other so called parents have forgotten how to do.
This way my kids will have manors, respect, and not go stupid shooting up other kids blaming it on the music, or the tv he watches.
