Old news! That car ran 8.9s a year ago and it dynos at 1250 hp. 12.2-12.4 afr is fine for the gas he's using. Boost for that set up comes in over 6k rpms and that's more than most of you redline! 30 psi? Try 44!

NOPE! It is the factory manual transmission and completely stock. His boyfriend Ryan runs the same stock toyota factory transmission and puts down over 1400 rwhp through it. And they both use factory IRS with the only aftermarket suspension being coilovers. Yes that's factory half shafts. Built toyota tough! Thats rightttttt!

Coming from a stang owner with a sc car and driving two single turbo Supra's (bro's cars), I noticed the lack of torque in low rpms but once the turbos kick in its like driving a plane in high rpms. The six speed's can take alot of power but are very clunky. I am thinking of going to a Supra once I sell the Saleen. [ February 20, 2007, 09:43 PM: Message edited by: SEMPERFI510 ]

well of course supras lack tq down low they are only 180 cubic inches and weigh over 3600 lbs stock. Who's car did you drive? I know just about all the single turbo supras in the bay. 6 speeds aren't clunky from the factory its the aftermarket clutches that chatter. Other then that they are smooth. You should ditch that saleen and go with a supra they are nicer cars all the way around. You'll notice a much better build quality right away.

The tranny makes the noise as this is the second six speed I have driven. My brother Mark had a 93tt that he single turboed but it was stolen and it caught on fire(methanol kit}. It was silver and and shown below. Now he has a 93tt six speed that has a single t87. And in reality the build quality should be superior for what they cost brand new. But most Supras now, since most are at least 9-14 years old, show their age ie. seats, interior, shocks. Yet they are still going for $16K+. Can't beat having a solid block and tranny straight from the factory though. [ February 21, 2007, 03:22 AM: Message edited by: SEMPERFI510 ]

Did your brother have an auto before? If its the same guy I think he had a smaller single turbo something like a gt35r. It may or may not be the same guy but the Mark I knew lived in Fremont too and drove a silver single supra. If you have ever driven a completely stock 6 speed you'll notice that it makes NO noise. No chatter. No nothing. And they are smooth as silk. Maybe the ones you drove were worn out from people grinding gears.
Most of the supra owners I know take care of their cars and they don't show their age. Maybe the ones you know of are ghetto but all the peeps I know treat them like gold. Also, for around 16k you won't find a nice low mileage supra especially a 6 speed. Try 25k for a 6 speed and 22k for an auto.

Yes it was auto and he had a relatively small single on it. He has gone through many Supras and that was the only one he kept. And yes a low mileage will go for a pretty penny but you can find a high mileage auto for about 16-18k. Never drove any ghetto Supras and most have been in good shape. My bro made the same comment about the six speeds he has driven. A tranny that is going to hold that much power will be a bit clunky. The six speed cars I drove were like new and had low mileage with stock twins. Believe me I know about Supras as my brother is infatuated with them and has had a couple of them come through the house that I've helped wrench on. Not bagging on the car at all but just my observations on the cars I have driven. I am not biased either, I love all fast cars imports, european and american.

Yep I knew it was your brother. I know just about all the supra peeps in the bay. Your bro also sold me a FUCKED up converter! He said it was a barely used less than $500 miles and good condition Supra SP level 10 converter with a 4k stall. Well I bought it for $600 and threw it into my car. That conveter was FUCKED it would stall to any rpm and the car would barely move at all. I sent it back to SP and when they opened it they discovered that it was blown up! All the fins were bent and clutches fried. They also told me it was a non lock up converter specifically made NOT for a supra it was for a sand rail and that's why it didn't have any lock up provisions! They pulled off the serial numbers off it and crossed reference it with their order sheets just to make sure. And yep this was the case! It also was NOT a level 10 converter. So I told your bro this and he just shrugged his shoulders and said "Well I don't know anything about it I bought it like that." He didn't offer any refund or any help.
Luckily I'm in good with SP and their conveter company Midwest. So I shipped it back ($40) and had it rebuilt to level 10 supra specs which cost me $300. They sold it for $1200 while giving me back what I had into it ($950). So all in all I broke even but wasted a lot of time and had to r&r the trans. Since time is money I guess I took it in the ass a little on that one. And your bro just didn't even care. He misrepresented the product and didn't back any of his words up. I even pm'd him a million times on supra forums but didn't answer any of my pm's. And a little while later he was banned from supra forums and I had no other way of getting a hold of him.
So as far as your bro goes....he's a SHADY character to deal with. And I know a lot of the other supra peeps don't like him either after they dealt with him.
Anyway, to do a supra right you gotta spend the $$$. Its a rich person's toy if you go high hp. I see all these single supras just hacked but people still think its da bomb. They think big turbo = fast but they forget about all the other stuff. If you're going to do a supra do it right or don't do it at all. That's my motto. Hack a domestic like a mustang they aren't worth much anyway.
If you want to see ghetto supras go to LA they are about 85% ghetto there. Its sad to see!

Hmm thats weird I remember him selling that converter but I also remember him having no problems with it when it was on his car. There are no gurantees when you buy on the net and as far as he knew it worked fine. He knows a lot of local guys that are Supra owners that seem to be fine with him. I doubt he was being shady to you. As far as Supra's go many are pieced together and some are really nice. It just depends how deep your pockets are.

Sorry bud but that's complete bullshit. He said it worked fine and had only 500 miles on it. He said it was a level 10 sp converter for a supra. All of this it was NOT. Its not buyer beware on supraforums us in the supra community take care of each other and we represent things correctly and we make things right when things go wrong. We don't fuck around this is not playschool. As far as your brother with this converter, I asked him during that 1 time I actually got a hold of him and he said that he did NOT run the conveter! He just bought it and sold it. So this must be a different converter than you are talking about. Or who knows maybe not.
He didn't even attempt to make things right so he's shady. No if ands or butts around it. He's the seller, he misrepresented the converter, so it should be his responsiblity to take care of his own wrong doings. I was willing to work with him but after I got some run around bullshit shoulder shrug I just called SP and they worked with me. So what does that tell you! I don't care if he's your brother you are obviously sticking up for him with this "no guarantee" bullshit. He may be your brother and he may be a decent person to some people but he's a fuck up of a seller!
In case you don't get it here's an example for you. Lets say I post up that I have a barely used coan racing turbo 400 transmission extreme performance transmission for sale and say that its in great working order. Then you buy it, install it and find out the clutches are fried and the gears and broke. How would you feel? I bet you call me for your money back!
And believe me I know much supras can cost. I've bought and sold a ton of them from stock to highly modded. And there is no other street supra in cali that can touch me in the 1/4 mile so I know how much it costs to build one like this, especially since I did it from stock.
