How friggin long does it take????
I bought a car a UTAH car a month ago. Sent in pink slip, vehicle vin identification and registration transfer along with payment and still haven't got anything from the dmv. Its a 1970 car so no smog required.

I just did this with the beater car my roomie and I use as extra transportation. You will need:
- Signed pink for the car in hand. - A copy of your current insurance for your current car (just for proof of Ins.) - You will need a passing CA smog certificate, I would just get this done and out of the way before you get to the DMV for this process (makes it easier trust me). - Then you will need to have them inspect the car. All this is them checking the pink slip to the vin #, making sure all your lights work, it takes 2 seconds. They should be able to do it the same day your there. - Then pay all your fees and such and your done. It’s not to difficult.

I first smogged the car, then went to the dmv with the title and proof of insurance, they inspected it(minor inspection), i then left with regestration, and got the title in the mail 14 days later. i guess in your case give them a call and see what the hold up is, or if thats just standard time.
