I am sooooo happy. I test drove an 2001 cobra yesterday. Man that thing was fast. Jumped on the freeway and smashed on it. I want to know is $19,000 a good deal for it. It only has 27,000 miles. [ November 12, 2006, 04:37 PM: Message edited by: 1990Silver5.0 ]

19K seems high, I found a few others that were clean for 13-15K. A couple years ago I almost had a dealer talk me into financing a 98 Cobra for 18.5K after the test drive but I took a few days to think about it and came to my senses.

for a few thousand more you put yourself in a 03/04 that is a lot faster than a 01/99 cobra.

Why are You looking at the dealership for used car's? Be patient and shop around! Those car's probably aer'nt going anywhere and You never know who owned them and if they took care of them and preformed the maintenance. BE PATIENT and you will get what You want.

I would offer $15000. If the dealer tries to suck you for more, I would take your business elsewhere.

$19,000 for a 02 WS6 with 22,000 miles is pretty good since its the last year they made them!

Don't get the '01! I had one and it was problem city. I think it spent more time at the dealer than on my driveway haha. Seriously though, it was fun when it ran, but it was not in any way reliable. Save a little bit more and get an '03 Cobra man. I have one now and it is far more refined than the '01. I mean it's no luxury car but the little things really make a big difference.
It rides much better, the seats feel much better, is much quieter inside when driving, has the incredibly strong engine that will give you peace of mind, and of course you get the foundation that responds to mods like nothing else. The '01 Cobra is not what I would call fast at all after driving the '03 Cobra. The '01 seriously lacks the low and midrange torque it needs on the street. The '03 has both, and a monster top end when you add a few simple mods. If the '01 is what you want by all means buy it! I'm just saying that I think you should give a little thought to the '03. It won't cost you a whole lot more either. Remember I have owned both and there is no comparison. I mean it's still a Ford, but a huge step forward from the '01.

Yes, you are correct! Unless you want to spend your entire life sucking the dicks of the banks and car dealers by messing with payments, then It is highly recommended to stay away from payments and pay cash any vehicle, including an 01 Cobra. My 01 Cobra convertible has been very reliable in the 4+ years I have owned it. Just last week, I drove it all the way to Las Vegas and the motor did not burn a drop of oil. I'm totally happy with my car and I plan on keeping it forever. Is an 03 cobra a better car than an 01? yes, but at least I can say that I have a paid for car and cash in my pocket to spend on other things besides a car.

I'm glad yours has proven reliable for you! After the third engine blew on mine, I knew it was time to move on. It only had 16,000 miles on it too. The new owner is having the same bad luck with it as well.
