Anybody know this guy?
Saw on the news tonight, CoCo Sheriff chases a black 5.0 GT, driver parks at a house in Pittsburg and runs, Deputy catches up with him and they start fighting, 17 year old driver is eventually shot and killed by Deputy.
Saw the car on the news, black 87-93 GT hatch with pony wheels/no center caps.

Man, that sucks. Sounds like he made impulse/stupid/teenager decision witch i'm sure were ALL guilty of doing at some point in our lives. But.....If you play w/fire your gonna get burned.

First off, i dont care how cracked out u are, if u see a gun, and ur threatend verbally(warning given first, not just pull and shoot...) by a cop that if u dont stop Ull be shot, u bet ur ass ud be on the ground hands over my head.... I see it from both sides, both civilian and law. Being that im in the hiring process for 2 law enforement branches im by no means am tryin to flame, just going by what ive been told/taught by people/officers i know persoanlly.
Its diff when its actually happening and i hope i never have to say I know the feeling and situation.
But now u get the cop on paid leave or whatever, possible wrongful death law suit, and bs bs bs that u really dont wanna deal with. Know what i mean?

If I am a cop on duty, and I am being attacked, whether it be by fists, a knife, a night-stick, whatever, I am pulling out my gun with full intention to use it.
Why would I ever take a chance with my life. If I am 5'10" 190, why would I ever take a chance using my batton on a guy that is 6'5" 300 if I am completely alone.
Are there any cops on this board? Can anyone fill us in as to how you have been trained to approach such a situation?
When would you use mase, or a batton before using a gun? You are trained to pull the gun out and pull the trigger at what point?
And as far as having to shoot to kill... well if I have limited time, and 1 opportunity for a shot, his chest/stomach is a better target than his leg or arm. Better him than me. I am the cop that is protecting and serving, and he is the fugitive that is attacking me with the intention to do whatever it takes to get away. F him.

I understand what you are saying about the headache of a wrongful death lawsuit, paid leave while it is investigated, etc. That can be a major ordeal and very time consuming, but at least you are alive.
You mentioned using deadly force as a last resort. The officer in this case claimed he got physically attacked.
If I am a cop, and I just got decked by a suspect while I was getting out my batton, I think we passed the point of last resort, lol. What comes next? I get stomped? I get my own gun taken from me and used on me while I am on the ground?
I think any suspect that decides to attack a cop, knows what type of fire he or she is playing with. It's serious business.
The cop in this story will have to prove that he was in fact attacked and not that it was a situation where he began to panic and opened fire on a fleeing or hiding suspect.
Like you said earlier, don't be a dumbass and try to attack a cop. Otherwise, anything goes. And when it does, it will happen FAST!

That sucks to be that guy. Only an idiot would try fighting an Armed police officer. I don't feel bad for him though i just hope he was some car theif or something. If it turns out he was a car theif then i will be 100% happy hes dead.

Oh well sux about his luck but who brought all the shit? Oh yeah I know he did.He could have just as easily pulled over,delt with whatever it is he was getting pulled over for did a lil time and been out in a year or so.He was 17 so he couldnt have done to much time.But again ONLY HE decided to make that ultimate decision,and guess what,HE LOST....

why not use a taser or pepper spray instead of his gun i think this would have been better,bur not even sure if all cities have the tasers. just curious if he had the time to pull his gun why not pull one of those instead.
