I decided to get the coupe some new rims and tires. I was lucky enough to find authentic Ford 17x9 cobra R rims with the 6.42" BS for use with 94-98 axles, which I already had (these 6.42" R's have not been available for years, at least not authentic ones). I bought the R centercaps separately along with 255/40 front tires and 275/40 rear tires.
I mounted the tires and immediately detected rubbing on the outer fenders in the rear when hitting bumps on the freeway. I ended up using the Eastwood tool to roll the fenders. Since the fenders were rolled, I said what the hell, and dropped the car another 1/2" all around. So far no rubbing
The ride height, measured from the ground to the top of the fender arch is: front: 25.25" rear: 25.75"
275's look pretty killer from the rear Here are the pics:

I never even knew there were different styles of cobra R rims. I am jealous of yours, I am looking to do the same thing to my notch except it will be green (the color that the CHP painted most of the CHP cars before they were sold at auction)
Huge improvement over those Bullit's IMHO
Also, ever find anything out on the proportioning valve plug?
