i was wondering why my accord got suck bad gas mileage. so i looked at kbb on info about my car and this is the axil ratio they say my car has 4.13
4.06
4.53

isnt that rather high? i compared it to a 2004 cobra, porsche gt2 and a toyota supra and they all had lower axil ratios. is that normal?

thats cause you have no torque so they fix it with high gears.

Post more details about the car (model, year, motor, milage, tranny etc) and what milage it is actually getting.

The first thing I would do is give it a full tune up and see if that helps.

Driving style is also a big reason for shit gas milage.

i have a 1995 v-6 auto 4door. the weigh of the car is 3000 lbs. i know the v-6 will have worse gas, but i can drive like a granny and only maybe get around 20mpg. but if i drive it hard i still get about 16-17mpg.

all fwd's have a lower final gear ratio. and that poor gas mileage has nothing to do with the gears
