Sierra at Tahoe. My brother and I took the mounty up for a day of boarding. Perfect day for boarding and I had a chance to break in my new boots and bindings (and truck). On the road going out of the resort at the end of the day there was some ice that looked like melted water...basically we hit the ice going about 30 - 35 mph, smacked the side of the snowbank, went up some of the bank, at that point I closed my eyes because I heard glass shatter...felt like one complete roll but who knows.

Anyway car is fucked off and saved both our lives. Neither of us had even one scratch. AAA has been awesome so far and really on the ball with it. They gave me a 30 day paid car rental until they either total it out and cut a check or fix it...I really don't see them fixing it,..and no the airbags did NOT deploy. I don't think we were going fast enough for them to go off.

Sooo moral of the story...there really isn't one, other than it's just a peice of metal and my brother and I are cooool and no other cars were involved.

Best part is looking for another ride

MAN!!...That's crazy Jer...Thinks happen for reasons, maybe you can get a newer car/suv that's better than that one....

BTW~what with the date on your camera

Yup already lookin for something else...wife said some bullshit about a wagon? Unless its an Audi A6 then no way. I'm for sure getting something that isn't a v8 this time...we were tired of the gas consumption on the mounty anyway. We'll see...it'll be the wife ride so it most likely will suck more than the mounty [Frown]

Need some suggestions on what to get. SUV, v6, $12,000-$20,000 LOW LOW miles is a must, 2000-2006. Thats my search window so far...

AAA isn't so cool anymore.

Tomorrow it will have been a week to the day that I rolled the mounty. And nothing has been done at AAA. No one has even LOOKED at it from AAA.

The tow yard charged ME the $258 towing fee even after I gave them my card. I'm getting charged $45 a day for the car to sit at the tow yard.

Friday ONE DAY after the roll over we got a call from the adjuster asking us if we wanted the car towed to a junk yard so we wouldn't be charged $45 a day for it being at the tow yard. We said YES....and guess what...car is STILL AT THE TOW YARD and no one from AAA has looked at it or sent anyone to bring it to the junk yard!!!

All these fee's come out of the check they cut when totalling out the car so basically out of my pocket! I've been sent to 4 different people and they all just send me to each other...if I have a question they say they don't know and send me to someone else.

And what can I do? Nothing...I'm just getting shafted and don't know who to call anymore or what to do. FUCKING MOTHER FUCKERS! The guy that is supposed to be looking at the car has not once answered his phone ALLLL WEEK!

Any advice? Buy some KY and bend over isn't really my first choice but its starting to look like I have no choice. I mean does it really take a fuckin full week to go look at a car that is CLEARLY totalled. They refused my photos, not that I thought they would take them but shit.

Last time I called the adjuster his v-mail said he is off tomorrow...so he had time to chance his voice mail but not return any of my calls...So I'll be paying another $45 for two more days while he's off fuckin his bitch monkey. [Mad] [Mad] [Mad] [Mad] [Mad]

Call your agent...He's the one that will loose your business....Just keep calling and asking for management....

That is fuckin ridiculous...Personally, the first thing that came to mind is have it towed to your house, so you don't keep getting tow yard bills....But then, it's in TAHOE!...

WTF, Yeah AAA hasn't been working for me either...

AAA is only good for Towing you the free 5 miles (or if you have the advanced membership the 100 miles) coming to give you gas if you run out, helping you get into your car if you lock the keys in, etc.

AAA sucks ass, when my 65 got rear ended.I had AAA full coverage. They sent an adjuster out to talk down the price to fix it,but it wasn't even on their buck. The guy that hit me had farmers insurance. The body shop owner had to tell the adjuster to leave, then we called AAA and instructed them to stay out of it since they were working for the wrong team. Fuckin pricks. Some body shops don't even want to deal with AAA insured people, cause the adjusters are spineless. I have been treated better by cheapy insurance companys that weren't even mine.

I'm not just a roadside AAA member but my AUTO insurance is through them too. We are also AAA Plus Members which is the 100 mile tow. The car is fully covered and we have 3 cars through them...I almost thought we would get SOME KIND of service other than SHITTY!

And I've been really calm with everyone I've talked to in hopes they would be willing to help me out... I know at work I will go out of my way NOT to help someone if they are being pricks to me, so went out of my way to be cool with them....guess I need to contact supervisor and managers.....although that could just make things worse. What goes around comes around is just wishful thinking. Most people who do bad shit don't get bad shit done to them, so i don't think your being punished for anything.

Somtimes if you get a bit loud,it gets things moving faster. Drop the "do we need to settle this court" line,if you have much more trouble. Always worked for me.

dont switch back to farmers, they totally freaking shafted me.

and the check they cut for fee's such as the tow yard fee's is seperate from the property damage one, who told you the tow yard storage fee would be coming out of the car value?

Bottom line is Insurance companies= Scum

These pricks are quick to take your cash but as soon as you file a claim, it's "hey, fuck you pal!"

FUCK YOU AAA!
FUCK YOU STATE FARM!
FUCK YOU ALL STATE!
FUCK ALL YA'LL!

aaa insurance and roadside assistance are too seperate things. We charge storage so insurance companys move their asses. The only thing you have to pay is your deductable. If the insuance company wants to drag their feet let them. It won't cost you anything. do not pay the tow bill !!! your issurance company may not re-emburse you.

WOW SORRY TO HEAR YOUR PROBLEMS AS SOME OF YOU KNOW I WORKED FOR THEM FOR ABOUT 10 YEARS HAVE ALL OF MY INSURANCE THROUGH THEM HOME,LIFE AND CAR NEVER A PROBLEM EVERYTIME I GOT HIT THEY WOULD CALL MY CELL IN LIKE TEN MINUTES TO TELL ME THAT THEY HAVE MY RENTER READY AND NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES ABOUT GETTING MY RIDES FIXED AND AS MOST OF YOU KNOW I VE BEEN HIT A LOT OF TIMES BY NON DRIVERS

Finally got a hold of someone that knows up from down and right from left. As soon as I asked for my claims guys supervisor shit started rolling. Two min. after I told her what the hell was going on the guy in charge of getting the claim done called...WOW who would have thought. He was apologizing all over himself saying that they are paying for everything and not to worry,...which is cool but still made lame excuses, my favorite was that they had to hire a 3rd party to go check out the car because its in such a secluded area....I was like South Lake Tahoe is secluded? AAA has NO offices or reps out there? PLEASE! He made it sound like they have never had a member wreck out there...hmm right.

In any case,...things look a little better than they did yesterday but we'll see how it turns out. Did I mention the tow yard already mailed me a letter saying they are going to sell the car on their own because its been sitting there so long and no one has claimed it or came out to even look at it...they are considering it abandoned LMAO!! At least someone is on the ball.

ps.thanks for all the PM'd advice too.

I used to work for AAA. Thirteen years at the place before they started downsizing. It's true - they don't have many adjusters out in the field. They hire independents that really don't give a crap. Also all the local offices no longer have claims people. All claims are handled out of Las Vegas or Colorado Springs by very inexperienced adjusters who are over worked. Nice to know that they are the CALIFORNIA State Automobile Association. [Confused]

In regards to the towing and storage charges, CSAA has to take care of it. It will not come out of your settlement. Also when they total it, they will pay you the Actual Cash Value of the vehicle, tax, prorated DMV fees and transfer fees.

Also if this drags on too much longer and it gets close to your 30 day rental expiring, I'd force them to extend it an extra week since it took them a week to look at it.

If you have any questions PM me.

Posted by 69grandecj (Member # 5794) on :

BTW: Since your adjuster probably is in Colorado Springs, he doesn't know where "secluded" South Lake Tahoe is.

Posted by Jdub07 (Member # 2728) on :

wow,...69grand thanks for that info! I didn't know any of that. Do you know what they base their 'cash value' of the car on. Zip code, milage, condition etc. The car was MINT with not a scratch, dent, ding, leak, rip or anything and it had maybe 54,000 miles on it tops. Premier package, the works.

Do they do it by private party value, trade in? sorry if my questions are dumb.

Posted by 69grandecj (Member # 5794) on :

CSAA uses an "independent evaluation" company, usually ADP or CCC. The CSAA adjuster gives the "independent" company the mileage, options and condition to them along with your zip code to do a market evaluation. They try to find comparable vehicles like yours making additions/subtractions for mileage and option differences. Usually it is like mid-book.

When CSAA makes there first offer to you, if you are not happy with the figure ask them to fax you a copy of the report so you can make sure that all options were taken into account. Also they will more than likely just rate your car as average so you might want to fight them on that.

I would advise you to start looking in the auto trader, craigslist, etc for other Mountaineers like yours for sale and save the ads so you can provide them to CSAA. The ads should be for the same year vehicle or one year newer.

Good luck.

The truck had AAA on it... and it is/was at emerald bay tow yard. I've yet to hear back from AAA or the 3rd party guy that was to decide if its totalled or not.

69grand...thanks again for the info.

It would be nice to buy it back and part it out but right now I'm just hoping to get at least the true value of it. Anything after that is just cake. [patriot]

Well after 57+ telephone calls, 55 messages left and 3 calls returned my settlement is $13,277.49

High Kelly Blue Book for the mounty @ 54,000 miles is $12,xxx

I tried selling the mounty about 3 months ago for $10,000 with no bites,...being gas prices were already so bad back then. I purchased the car about 2 years ago for $11,500

I couldn't have wrecked the car at a better time then now [Big Grin] Thanks for all the advice, I should be getting the check in the mail tomorrow. [patriot]

Mine too was the v8 premier addition but a 2000 not a 2001 so I can see how the value was close...do you have any photos of yours? Did it get wrecked?
