I'm just wondering if anyone has a best buy credit card and how well the interest rate is on it. I'm thinking about applying for it, I have pretty good credit and I want something to kind of establish my credit score even better. Let me know thanks.

james

damn nevermind I just found out it was 22.15 percent. That's insane.

yea most major stores have a extremely high interest rate. If you have to put it on credit you would be better off with your personal visa or m/c those would have the lowest apr's.

unless the stores offer a 0% financing option but read it carefully before signing up see if there are any loop holes.

I had a best buy card, and bought a tv with it. I was told I got 12 months of zero finance charges...... I found out in the 7th month that it was a 6 month deal and they slapped me with a 96.00 finance charge. Unfortunatly I lost the recipt, and they could do nothing for me. I was hella mad because I owed less on the card than the finance charge at that point [Mad] Live and learn I guess so keep your recipt and be careful.

IMO all credit card interest rates are way too high. If you are trying to build up a credit history then get a bank issued credit card, use it for basic things you would normally pay cash for (ie gas and food), and then pay it off every month.

I'm not sure who has the lowest interst rates but you may want to check out a credit union.

I've got a bestbuy card. I originally got it about 4 years ago when I bought a bigscreen TV, b/c I got 12 months @ 0% interest. I paid it off in 10 months, and figured I might as well keep it. I use it from time to time and never take more than a month or two to pay it off. I've noticed that most, if not all purchases I make on the card come with like 90 days same as cash financing (0% interest), so basically if I pay it off within 3 months, I never pay interest. It comes in handy around the holidays and such if I need to spend a bit more than I planned and want to save money by getting a 0% rate for a few months.

I believe my default APR is like 18.9% or something, which is pretty damn high...but I have almost always paid it off before it came to charging me interest. I think almost all retail credit cards have high interest rates. I used to have a Target card, which was totally stupid, I cancelled that thing real quick once I started not being able to pay off the bill each month and it had around a 23% APR from what I remember...fuckin loan shark rates...

Anyways, I don't really know how well retail cards affect your credit rating...I mean, obviously it's got to have some sort of effect, but I wonder if it counts less than a normal credit card? I bet if someone was to not pay on one, it'd bring down your credit the same as a normal card...but I wonder if paying it off each month and being responsible with it helps as much as a normal CC?
