Especially if you are 200lbs or over. I have a 92'wr250 (old Betsy)and an 03' 426 GREEN STICKER. I love it! Just have to make sure the top end or clutch isnt burned out. If the bike is really clean, like REALLY clean, chances are the bike was maintained pretty well. If its still dirty from the last ride I wouldn't buy it. If your'e going to race it or are thinking about it I'd go with a four stroke. If this is your first bike I'd go with a 250F, theyve got alot of power and are very easy to ride than a 125. The powerband on a 250 two stroke is really snappy so it would take some getting used to. The enduro's are usually a bit heavier though! For desert riding you can't beat an XR650, theyve won more Baja 1000 championships than any other bikes. A Yamaha WR or Suzuki DRZ 400 would be good too. If you want a new bike I'd get a CRF250 or 450 X.
