What steps do I need to take????
My mom and grandmother were involved in accident. A dipshit made a u turn in front of them on highway 88.
They aren't doing that great but are stable.
Injuries range from both femur bones broken, internal bleeding, bruised lungs, broken ribs, possible head injury?, loss of vision, and the the other two people in the car have a broken back more broken ribs shattered ankle, and the list goes on......but they are stable and out of the first phase of surgery.
I have really no one to help me inform me etc no family nada. Any help/info will be appreciated. More than anything paying for this whats going to happen my grandmother is visiting from mexico and has no insurance I mean not a handout but who do I need to talk to about setting up something or informing me...fuck I don't know I'm going to try to sleep nothing I can do it's so frustrating. Then the fact they are in sac and I'm here and I have my academy almost done but right now that shit doesn't matter to me.... [ November 26, 2005, 05:32 AM: Message edited by: Fostang ]

Does your mom or the other driver involved have insurance? That is who will end up flipping the bill. Hopefully the other person is well insured. But way to often thats not the case

Wow really sorry to hear that happened... If you guys do end up paying for the hospital bills just remember that if someone doesn't have insurance then bills can be negotiated down a bit. Talk to the hospitals social services department, usually they can help with that stuff...

Im sorry about the accident, atleast they are still alive and are stable however. Like someone said earlier the car insurance will probably be the one to pay for the bills. Hopefully the coverage was good. If thats not good i suggest talking to the hospital social services

Hey man im really sorry to hear that. My mom and I got into a accident on the freeway about 5 years ago and its really scary. Best of wishes 2 your mom and grandmaother. Thats why everyone who argues with someone they love should never say anything bad about them because you never know what could happen when you walk out the door. My prayer goes out 2 you and your family.

I'm sorry to hear about your family, I will keep them in my prayers.
For the accident part don't Stress your self too much. Your mom has insurance? either way the dip-shit that was making a u-turn infront of them in responsible his car insurance should cover a little bit if not at the end I believe you can take him to curt and Sue his ass.
Please keep posting on here and let people know about your families condition......

the cops didn't come? If not you need to go into the nearest chp office and make and accident report.

Thank you all.
Update: I was able to speak to my grandmother and is fully concious and remembers things. She is off the respirator. In pain of course, will know tomorrow if she needs further surgery on her right arm. Has had 2 surgeries already as she broke both femur bones.
Mom goes into surgery tomorrow morning spine injury. They need to stabalize a ?vertabrai? as it is loosly attached.
She has some bruising to her brain just hopping it doesn't get worse. There might be some permanent vision loss she has however regained some of it. broken rib(s)
took a sleep aid but it's not working. I've been up since friday morning. Didn't get any useful sleep last night. Working on getting a lawyer as I can't handle anything right now.

I'm just trying to square everything away asap.
As I am trying to handle everything myself.
I can't just not go the academy my mom and grandma told me not to do that. They said they are in good care which they are.
I'm just a little confused right now.

Laws are in place to take care of them, they cant be turned away for medical care. Just let it all fall into place, you can't rush everything along. Good luck and try to relax a little bit.

I know they can't be turned down hard to explain what I'm trying to do.... I'm not the kind of person that just likes to sit and do nothing next to their bedside. Not that I'm not concerned I just show my concern in a more calm organized fashion or thats what I like to think.
Even the spine surgeon that I spoke to yesterday suggested that I do some of the things I am trying to do ASAP.
and if you would like to know what the guy was concerned about after the accident his fucking truck all he said oh no my truck is ruined and now I'm going to loose my license...this is why I am going to fucking break this piece of shit.

its good to hear your mom and grandmother are ok and stable... As long as someone had insurance it should pay for it.
I got into a bad car accident in august shattered my femur and my humerous. I spent 6 days in the hospital and 12 hours in surgery. Now i have a rod in my leg and a plate in my arm. Breaking your femur is no fun at all. im still having some problems with my leg 4 months later.
but i hope insurance will pay for the medical bills, or else it will get expensive. for my just 3 days at valley medical, and surgery it was $60K. Thats not including ambulance fees, an extra 3 days a Kaiser etc.... yada yada yada. Luckly my car insurance is covering everything.

Man that sucks! I would definitely get the other persons insurnace to pay for everyhting (if they have it) since they are the ones that screwed up big time.
I hope your mom and grandma are ok. If your mom has a hurt back shes going to need you to help her for atleast 3 months. My dad is doing better and better everyday but i need to help him do almost everything. He has to wear a back brace that won't let him bend over at all.

My dad calls the back brace "the torture device", hes doing better and better everyday though. So your mom should be doing really good in 2 weeks. My dad is going back to the hospital on Dec. 9th to get XRayed to see if he needs back surgery.
I read that a fractured Disc in the back is very common, so your mom should be good.
