Its definitely possible.
A well thought out 306 combo could go mid 11's all day long. I think the reason most people opt for the the strokers is that if your already building a motor, hell, why not get some extra cubes while your at it?
Puting the car on a bit of a diet wouldn't hurt either

I saw a NA 331 that Eliot Franklin at the Mustang Corral built, something around 13:1, 600+ hp. It was in his fastback roadracer. That motor sounded insane.
I'm sure in the right car, say an 87-93 notchback, it'd be good for high 10's, low 11's at least.

We did it with Edelbrock performers (1.90/1.60 valves). 3250lb raceweight, 11.99 @114.7mph w/1.70 60ft. 120K mile stock shortblock.

come on now,everyone knows what it means when someone says motor, there talking about a engine. its all the same to be honest.there aint no electric cars that run 11s, and everyone knows that.KEEP IT REAL.
