....for the cars you sell? I see constantly on this site, people asking well over $2,000.00 over KBB. For cars with minor or major bolt ons or engine mods. Maybe it's me, but I just don't get it.

ahhhh! the mighty "market value" kbb (if you wish) it works likes this, is a convertable worth as much in colorado? or a 4x4 in san francisco? no. Thats why prices change according to location. kbb well, kar power blue book (different from kbb) is a buyers giude for the banks meaning if you asked to borrow $45000 for an 89 escort they can look at a reference of the value. Real value is set at auctions. say for example when gone in 60 seconds came out it made mid 60s era mustangs go up in price by tons the only way to get a feel for value is kinda ask yourself what would i pay for this? then remember almost all models have a competitor and so on and so forth. yeah its tuff but i always crack the bee open and find my REAL market value.

Put it like this a car is worth what you can get somebody to pay for it. If you run KBB on a 93 Cobra in Good condition with 50K miles you get just over 5K. Are you saying thats what they should sell for?

so then what does?
actual value.a car is WORTH what someone is willing to pay for it
So let me get this straight.Lets say you have a car thats really clean lets call it a 1993 GT and then you have a REALLY BEAT 1993 GT that has wasted interior and paint etc... with 250xxx miles but its only worth a few hundred less than the MINT one....Not happening.KBB is a JOKE!The prices are actually comical.Guess a really clean GT is only worth $2650.00?,it must be thats what KBB says its worth [ October 30, 2005, 06:48 PM: Message edited by: HaulinAssMaro ]

kbb ( kweer bum biters ). case in point is your 91 chp notchback, if you put that car in autotrader nationally odds are youde get at least twice what it books for just because its a 5.0. if your booking some generic car then its usually ok, but if you are booking a car like a mustang, vette, camaro, impala or something else with a big time following youll run into the market value thing, the car will book low but sell higher every time, if you go to a dealer auction gt's and z28's will often sell for MORE than retail book value even at a dealer auction, thats because people will pay more for the cars, basically its been said already, a car is worth what someone will pay for it. wait, first your self employed, then you own a house, then you have a mustang and a bike and a trailer, and most of us are spoiled/immature but moreover 'not as good' as you, now we are pricing things to high?
do you do any seminars? can we set up a special forum were we ask you for advice?

When I collected baseball cards, a good friend of mine said, "Beckets is a guide. It's not a bible." KBB is the same thing. It's there to give you an idea of what something is worth. It's not God's final word.
