I was jsut curious, with the combo you have, what headers do you plan on running if you don't mind me asking? I'm only asking because I plan on having something similar. Thanks

rioredGT: currently i'm running stock exhaust manifolds, a bassani o/r x pipe, and 2 chamber flowmaster mufflers. I'm going to get either hooker long tubes or most likely some BBK shortie headers. It was only a matter of time before i cracked the stock manifolds due to the novi forcing so much air through my motor. i'll let you know how it turns out.

hey bro, i wouldnt recommend gettin shorties, since they wont be worth the money to get them installed. get some midlength or LT headers instead
my recommendation would be Bassani midlength headers. ill be gettin those eventually...

Holy Shit $350 for a header install sounds like highway roberry. Is it even worth it for the hp you get from the headers . Headers $200-300 Installation $350. Potentially $650 for around 10-15hp.

umm dude lol, most places will charge $800-$1000 for installing headers on a mustang bro. it is roughly a 6-8hr install. no one said HP comes cheap

It's not easy on a Modular mustang 96-2004 as compared to a 5.0 mustang. The k-member has to be brought down or either lift the motor out and install them.
I installed my own long tube headers on my 98 cobra when I had it, but I also had a tubular k-member that made the install easy!

yes. removing the kmember at the same time during the header install in totally recommended. in fact, i suggest replacing the stock kmember with a Tubular one when you have your headers installed. get that part out of the way, and kill 2 birds with one stone.

5.0 headers are cake compared to 4.6 headers bro if you think $350 to install headers on a 4.6L is a rip off, then you need a hug

you can say that again! ive known a few people that did it without droping the kmember or anything, and it took them about 16hours to install the freaking headers. 16 hours!!!!! 1hour per 2bolts to remove, then 1hour per 2bolts to reinstall haha

oh ya, another way to install headers on a 4.6 is to do unbolt one motor mount, while just loosing the other. then jacking up the engine a little, and it will tilt to one side. then install the header on that side, then repeat for the other. ive heard you can do this WITHOUT dropping the kmember.

also, a good catback is that much anyways, and you get around 7-10rwhp gain from it...$650 isnt bad at all...but for good headers, youll pay anywhere from $400-$700 for a set...like the bassani's, hooker or kooks...

ya. pretty much. the 5.0 is so cheap to mod...that's why i want to get an 89LX hatchback project going one of these days....but unless you mod the 5.0 engine to high hell, it's a slug, but like i said, haha it's wont take a lot of $$$ to make it fast

"mod the engine"?
stock 5.0 engine's from stock air box to oil pan but with other bolt-ons like gears and slicks, run low 13's to high 12's all the time.
just open any 5.0 mustang mag and look for results in a "factory stock" 5.0 drag class, the winners are always high 12's!
