usually in silver but that one's red.
price is ~ the same VW parts are arguably cheaper than foxbody ones. lol. a VW powered 1300# 550 is arguably heads/shoulders above a 5.0 powered 2200# AC cobra if that's a factor. H/C/I should even the table but of course the VW is easily mod-able as well. mostly I'm just considering looks.

a blue / white stripe one spun off the 92 a few days ago, I be that one would be pretty cheap right now.

I think I agree with coupe, a certain black notchback would be a hotter looking car to put back together

I'd like to build a 550 and either go with a 2110cc w/turbo and Dave Berg 5spd, or a 3.3 litre 993 motor. Either way, it'd be WAY too much power for that car.

yeah a 550 is around 1400#'s curb weight, and most people think that 150 crank HP is pushing it for that car. That's about the equivalent power:weight of a Z06 or '03 cobra.
an AC cobra @ 2200#'s or so isn't exactly heavy either though. Still the 550 must drive like a lotus caterham-7 I imagine
I'd probably just try to stuff a '911 turbo 6 in it. lol.
mid engine, rwd, roadster, light/tossable as all hell. what's not to love IMHO.

I agree. I'd say the 550 with a bike engine such as a..bored and stroked Ninja ZX12R engine. Or a turbo'd Hayabusa.

That 550 is pretty nice looking, but Cobra's rule. My uncle and I are building one now.

Engine so far is pretty tight. Body should come next year.

Unless you want people mistaking your faux classic Porsche for a 2002 Ford Thunderbird, get the Shelby. Plus, there's just something cool about the sidepipes on a Shelby. I wonder if anyone has ever tried to put a 4.6L DOHC motor in a Cobra. That'd be sick. [ April 13, 2005, 09:08 AM: Message edited by: The Nick ]

maybe it's just me, but have you seen a 550 in person? I'd be as likely to confuse it for an '02 thunderbird as an H2
