Saw some jackass yesterday wearing this shit yesterday. [/qb]
I guess someone needs to smack them hard and someone IMPLANT this famous quote inside their brains "There are two types of riders out there, those that went down and those that are going to go down". [/qb]
on a side note, iv been riding for 12 years, been in my share of accidents (on the road and off)and i still cant understand why some riders think its ok to try and tell others what to do! i personally wouldnt ride in bball shorts or flippy floppys, but i pretty sure that this is a free country! people shouldn't have to deal with others comments on how dumb others think they are! idk im not trying to start a thread battle i just hate to hear the "you should you shouldn't" s@#t! cant we all just worry about our self's, pluse its kind of like gossiping...........and only women do that! [/qb]
It's not about making others feel dumb for doing something stupid. It's about looking out for other riders. Everytime i see a rider with no gear, at a gas station or anywhere and we happen to connect i mmake sure to say " i'd suggest putting on some gear for your safety". [/qb]
But what if they dont want your advice? I wear my gear most of the time, but if i rode down to the gas station in my jeans and a t shirt and someone came up to me and said that i would be real close to punching them in their mouth and telling them to mind their business. I think of myself as a safe rider, but I may make the choice to ride without my jacket. I am fully aware of my actions and the possibility of consequences and dont need some self righteous jerkoff to come tell me to put a jacket on. Mike [/qb]
I see where you & Fr5.0 are coming from with the whole "i dont need your advice so back off" LOL but trust me, if you have friends that ride and friends that went down HARD you're most likely think different. I mean think of it this way, what if California never passed a law for helmets? So if there wasn't a requirement to wear a helmet to ride, would you ride around the streets and freeways with no helmet? I'm pretty sure you WOULDNT do it after seeing the consequences right? Samething with a jacket, most riders haven't went down and those are the riders i usually see around with no gear on because REALITY hasn't sunked in YET. I'm usually up in the montains and i see motorcycle accidents everytime i'm out there and 95% of injuries could've been avoided if riders had protective gear on. Out here in the Bay, riding is a hobby and we have a huge community of riders everywhere but most riders look out for other riders in all posible ways. To each his own :) [/qb]
Bad logic again. I went down very hard myself. Yep gear saved me. However, I still do ride (not in the twisties or freeway mind you) without my jacket on occasion. But I do know the consequences. And no I would not ride without a helmet. I have had two friends who passed away on motorcycles, but no amount of gear would have save them. I'M just saying, what you do is almost as bad as people trying to force religion down your throat when you dont want it. Your not doing anyone a favor by calling them out on their gear. People are grown ups and can make grown up decisions. Just because you have seen people go down hard, does not make it right for you to go calling everyone out. Also, one thing about this world these days, if you try and give someone unsolicited advice you may wind up with fist to face, or far worse. Advise at your own risk. Mike [/qb]
Again, I'm not going to call people out and call them idiots or dumbasses. I'd rather ADVISE them to gear up for their own safety because you just NEVER know. That's it and that's all As for the law, the lack of common sense in some people is why we have laws to begin with. [/QB]
