I just got this email from a friend out in Daly City:
hey guys, just a heads up, there are car jackers in the daly city area who are using high tech to break into cars. this morning around 330am i heard the garage door open. sprung out of bed and went to go look ... nada ... but the garage door was opened. thought it was strange, but too tired and went to bed. this morning i found one of my work gloves on the sidewalk ... strange. looked inside my car everything was strewn about. same thing with the lexus and the lexus has an alarm. it didn't go off. they took the garage door opener too. anyways no signs of forced entry on the cars. took my god damn awesome tennis racket, that i just hit a bunch of nasty backhands with. nothing taken from the garage. we did the police report and everything. cop told me it happened to other folks in the area. but i wouldn't be surprised if this spread to other places. be on the lookout and be safe.

they're getting smarter and smarter, turned off my friends main power breaker so the motion sensor light wouldn't go off, and his car was boxed in with 2 other cars, we still don't know how they moved it.

Don't newer openers have the rolling code feature to prevent this exact situation?

i just got more info from him. it is a newer style garage with the rolling code. apparently, they hacked the keyless entry system to his lexus and they found the garage door opener inside which was how they opened the garage door. his mistake, but i still can't believe that they broke into the lexus so easily.
