I've been looking at purchasing used motors and used heads and to be honest I'm scared of buying potentially broken stuff. So I found this for what I think is an alright price with warrenty.
306hp and 336trq "flywheel" An ls1 trans am and camaro put out 305hp"flywheel" And all I want is 280-300rwhp http://www.surefireengines.com/about_us.html [ November 04, 2012, 01:28 AM: Message edited by: Stangn5oh ]

What is it? just a stock rebuild for $2600? I don't see any specs on that link. I'd say no. There's better engines out there with a warranty. [ November 04, 2012, 12:39 AM: Message edited by: wilit ]

306hp 336trq and it doesn't say what's on it tho.
They also have a completely stock long block for $1700 but I'd rather pay $1000 more for the performance motor [ November 04, 2012, 12:47 AM: Message edited by: Stangn5oh ]

ls1`s were underrated from the factory. most stock ones put down over 300rwhp... what are your goals with your mustang? whats your budget? it will take atleast a heads cam and intake foxbody to keep up with or beat a stock ls1 if the foxbody is n/a..

Surefire? I thought that was a company that sells tactical equipment, namely badass flashlights for pistols and rifles.. or is this a different surefire company?

Just looked it up. Cast pistons, looks like E7 heads and a cam that looks like an E cam. Not worth $2600 imo.

+1 I had Dan rebuild a stock short block, drop in an F Cam, throw on my TFS TW 170 heads all of which cost me less than the price you're talking about. Even without my supercharger this setup would put down over 300hp. Why anyone wastes time getting motors built by shops that are on this forum doesn't make sense to me.
