Eventually, I would like to buy a home theater system. I've been snooping around on amazon and I've come across Bose products, but there's so many mixed reviews on Bose items ether "it sounds like the cheapest walmart boom box" or "amazing." I'm thinking about the BoseŽ CineMateŽ GS Series II Digital Home Theater Speaker System. Any input?

Bose is like monster cables, they spend millions on marketing to push very inferior, cheap products. Google search Bose reviews on any audio forum and it will say the same. There is even a review where they opened up a Bose speaker and saw it was worth a few bucks in parts.
They sound decent at a store because they spend the time to set up a sound stage and if you notice they put all the speakers close together so you can stand in the middle wihin a few feet of each other. It's clever marketing.

EXACTLY! Bose sounds good but for the price its not worth it. I picked up an Onkyo tuner and Polk speakers with a 12" down firing sub, it will hand a Bose system its ass for way less.

I went with Aperion speakers. They were very highly rated on Cnet. I've got the center channel, l and r, subwoofer, and rear surround speakers. I use a Pioneer amp. My living room is pretty small and my setup is more than enough to shake the whole house. The sound quality is very good, it would probably be better if I bought a really high end amp but I'm not an audiophile so the mid range equipment does the trick.

Hey monster cables are the shit! despite haters above there is a quality, size, and performance difference when using them. Coming from a former custom home and car audio installer.

yeah but even for a g, you can get something that will sound better and have the ability to be pieced together up to a 7 speaker system later. [ August 06, 2011, 01:30 PM: Message edited by: Camara90 ]
