I went to the movie knowing the stars are active duty seals, NOT actors, so it made the horrible dialogue completely easy to look past. Was a "good" movie overall.

I have a question about that actually. Having never served in the military, I don't know a thing about it. I thought the Navy Seals were supposed to be a completely secret group. Whenever I read books that have the middle section which includes active duty seals, they always censor their faces. Now they make a movie about them?

LOTS of NAVY seals are getting killed in combat, then combine that with only 5% of participants make it through BUDS training. The NAVY is hurting for more seals; the movie is just a recruiting tool.....just like call of duty games. [ February 27, 2012, 12:30 PM: Message edited by: 68stanger ]

It's definitely a new era, I spent 8 years in the Army and I remember seeing guys who were Special Forces they never talked about anything. Seems like it's a new generation and the media is everywhere. I remember back in the day a friend of mine was at Fort Bragg, everyone knew there were Delta guys out there but they never said a word.
Here's a recent article that touches on your question.

I also heard the acting wasnt too great but I dont care, I want to see it because there are real NAVY Seals. Ive looked into the BUDS training and Brain Training just to see and these guys can go to hell and back.
Thanks to all who serve
