Ive completed engines class (built a dodge neon ohc motor from the ground up with 3 groupmates). Im currently taking manuel transmissions. Im eager to learn and im in love with cars ( mustangs in particular). Im looking for a great shop or persons that have apprentanceship programs or are willing to take me under their wing. If anybody has an opening or refferals i would really apperciate it.

as of lately ase's are a joke.ive seen people come through some of my shops in the past with ase master certs and have no practical knowledge of what they were doing.experience will always trump certs in the auto trade.

this is true to a certain extent. but some employers won't even consider hiring you if you don't have ase's. if you are coming straight out of school, go talk to small independent shops about becoming an apprentice or even go talk to the service managers at bigger dealers and tell them you are interested in furthering your education and want some real world experience. I hear ya, i was hoping for a speciality shop since i would like to become a specialist rather then a general mechanic. I plan on attending wyotechs chassi fabrication and possible if i can afford it but the race engine building.
I know im shooting for the stars but somtimes dreams come true.
Lol i woulndnt bet on my own luck

No offense but for 30grand The school's not worth it. If you do the hipo clasees cool but the basic stuff you can get at a community college. Work experience will trump what the school can teach you. Try any local Ford dealers. I can tell you try to get in an import dealer. I hate to say it but the domestics suck to work on always doing heavy duty work and low pay warranty. Good luck on the specialty shops most of them are looking for experience.

There's no mechanics @ major dealerships only certified techs and if you get hired on they will usaly send and pay for school

try applying at muni or ac transit under an apprenticeship program. the jobs there are pretty stable and u get paid pretty good once you're out. i know of several ppl that have left dealership jobs to work at muni so that should tell u something about the job.
