Same thing happened to me when I bought my car, guy said take it for a spin so I got in and drove off. Well it was extra windy that day, fiberglass hood+no hood pins. That hood flew like half a block lol.

Damn that car was really nice. That's one of the worst damages I've seen from the hood flying up.I was wondering why you said you were getting it painted.then I seen the next pics. It's happened to everyone including myself.still nice car and stance looks great.

Nice lookin car! Black trim would look good!!.... This same thing happened to be me. i had just got my 89 coupe out of the paint shop like 2 weeks before , it was black and a 4 stage Kandy orange. I went to take some pictures and i had painted the engine compartment kandy orange to, i took the hood pins off and put them in my back pocket and took pictures. fogot to put them back in and the hood flew up , fucked up the cowl vent , cowl hood and broke the windshield. Sucked! went right back in to the paint shop!

Replacing the hood is the easy part. The hard part is fixing the cowl area.

I'm Kinda confused sorry for the noob question, so is this a common prob when you have hood pins and you forget to put the pins back on? Or did you just forget to close the hood all the wAy and didnt put the pins back in? Regardless you have a beautiful car bro and I love that color and wheel combo. Sorry to see what happened hope you get her back on the road soon.

Ok so yea some people dont have a latch on hood so pins do their job and really secure it down but if you got no latch no pins=dissaster lol not sure if op had stock hood latch I my self have no latch and when on freeway I see my hood catch air really scarry but I might add pins but its a stock hood so dont want neights jinx lol..morale of story if pins hold your hood dont forget to put them on..
