They suck when you're trying to obey the law, especially with 9" wide rim.

i hate the turning radius on my vert! being lowered 2" up front with 245/45/17 tires caused me to add 2 spacers on each side of the inner tie rod! i have to go heLLLLLa wide on U-turns! sucks! but its grown on me...

well theres a lil fix i do in the rack and pinion its self. i was gona keep it a secret just for the for my shop but im tired of idiots that dont know any better saying u have to change the steering components to gain any steering angle and its gona cost a lot of money to get it any better. and im kinda liking the idea for my fellow mustang drivers to get to enjoy the littler things in there car and not be plagued by no u turns like any other car has.
i ripped apart a couple of rack and realized that there are 2 teeth on either steering side not being used. like its hidden in the rack to be there and just its just not being utilized.
there are the plastic bump stops hidden behind the dust boots of the rack yes. remove those and yes the steering gets a bit better.. yes it will hit the lower control arm. yes removing the rub plate on the control arm well get a bit better. those are two simple things that will help a lil bit.
now if u remove the roll pin that locks the inner tie rod from the rack, u can and should remove the inner tie rod. if u look inside the female part of the inner tie rod that was just removed from the actual rack, u well notice a 1/8 or 1/4 inch of a shoulder so to speak before the threads start, there should be 2 holes where that roll pin was or could of been in the sencond hole. i take my band saw and cut evenly across those two holes care fully, then i smooth it out on my table sander. i do not grind on these pieces at all to prevent heat, the heat will kill the life of the Teflon or plastic ball cup thats holding the ball socket of the actual inner tie rod. i clean that out thoroughly with my air gun to move any metal fragments and dust. i then repack it with fresh hi temp grease. red loctite only on the male threads of the rack. reinstall the inner tie rod to the rack. now if your woorid u can drill a hole into the threaded part of the inner socket thru to the rack and set a new roll pin to 100 percent secure it. i do not think its necessary to do. i haven't seen one in any of my years come loose to need the ori roll pin. but it would not hurt one bit to do. reinstall like it came apart.
u now have a rack that will will have much more movement over any production mustang rack made factory. i strongly recommend paying me to do it for u so my expertise and years of skill secure a properly steering component with out having to worry about any steering issues going wrong.u bring me a steering rack, pay me a 100 bucks! i will modify it for u, only 1 problems now exists,,,,, the wheel will greatly hit the back of the control arm. this will have to be noticeably notched out. if just cut it out u will weaken the control arm greatly, i my self greatly recommend iron 50 to do this for u, his welding, cutting and finished product is way cleaner than i can do, we have already done a couple, he notches, and boxes in the control arm in a very gd looking an very stronger than stock piece. if u have tubular arms, it will greatly help and might even clear by them selves, if not then again i strongly recommend iron 50 again to modify them. the tubular ones are much easier to modify i bet he could or would do the tubed arms for a hundred even if they are off the car. im not sure what he would charge to the stock arms cause there is much more work involved, but i doubt he would charge over two hundred for the stock arm mods.
these two fixes will greatly increase your turn radius. again i would charge 100 bucks to mod your steering rack, he would charge 100 prob to adjust mod your tube arms. there is more steering angle to be found on these cars but im not recommending it or going to tell those secrets cause i don't want idiots killing them selves over some critle structaul

sorry time ran out but, critical engineering problems involving steering can and might happen.
but the two mods i mentioned earlier are prob all the steering u will need.and these two easier things can be done fairly simple or for 2 hundred me and iron can do for u. u will need a alignment for sure and some taking off and bringing us some parts. but if u understand everything i have said u can do these things yourself.
this is the stuff i do not recommend, but what we do. me and iron 50 do a bit more if you want to drift competitively, use 94 95 arms, cut and shorten the steering arm by 1 inch on 96 and newer spindals, we also correct the bump steer when the arm is reattached, eliminating a bump steer kit if u wish, and have to notch an reinforce around sway bar mounts on the front of the control arm as well, and our in house alignment to finish everything off, this is all the stuff we did on stans drift car. he drifts and daily drives everywhere for almost 6 moths now.
the drift set up i don't recommend for the street cause of the increased quickening of the turning due to the shortened steering arm. it will be twitchy at high speed, u know if u cough it might lane change lol. but he does fine and again drives daily everywhere. if can understand everything i said and have some simply tools u can do the first things in this articular i mentioned your self. enjoy the better steering and u can steer out of a out shit moment if u need. enjoy it! i was gona stay quite and stan did a great job keeping it under wraps as well. but here goes my thanks to the community. i personally love my car now, if u know my driveway? now know i can now make a u turn in my parking lot. no more 3 point turns or 5 point turns where a normal car can make a 3 point turn.

props to duncan and iron50 again for experimenting on my car, and getting the steering on point for drifting, boy did it make a difference! and i drove my car to reno for hot august nights with no issues, drove a shit load around town, to the track about 10 times, and to the east bay a few times also. ive been routinely checking the front suspension and theres been no rubbing or fatigue issues as of yet (except my car being so low my tires barely rub the fenders when im drifting)
