I think wrestling is a very good starting point, builds endurance, balance, body positioning, u can use it to neutralize a situation or u can u use to engage a situation. But I think it's a very good startin point.

If he's gonna pay to learn wrestling might as well learn Brazilian Jiu jitsu...much better at controlling someone where 90% of fights go...to the ground...

I would train at aka with the soon to be ufc champ again Cain Velazques. And I would start with muay thai first rather than wrestling cuz a street fight always starts standing. Wrestling is great but you don't want to be locked up when there can be more than one that you are fighting. I've been jumped 4 times since I moved back to cali cuz no one can stand with me one on one and if I would have went to the ground I would have got stomped out. You want to be mobile and be able to emobilize your opponents quick. Check out some krav magaw for some sick self defense.

im saying there takedowns suck dick compared to a wrestlers takedown.. what are u gonna just keep pulling guard and think the guy is gonna go to the ground with u/// i mean honestly this is something that can be argued on forever. jitz guy better at sub, wrestler will neutralize it and back and forth from there. so ima have to say find yourself an mma gym and just get well rounded at everything... and wrestling will teach you to get up, most people dont know how to properly get up and thats a lot of reasons people lay there and get stomped. just learn it all lol

and since you know dick about BJJ, you are 100% completely and utterly wrong..there's no arguing the point at all because you have no knowledge of the numerous takedowns and control of those takedowns....it's pretty insulting that you would say something like "suck dick compared to wrestling" when you have no knowledge whatsoever of BJJ and the various takedowns of the sport...I would invite you to our gym in Sacramento and put your wrestling skills or those of the best wrestler you know against anyone on our mat....I'll even get you a free week out of it...hell I'd pay for a full month for you if you could survive that long

Wrestling is actually a good base to have in mma. Alot of champions have that as there base even though they learn other disciplines

Exactly the point I was just saying smart guy, u could argue it from any angle.. Oh ju jitsu is so great then why did matt Hughes a wrestler beat your god? Your legend?? Me saying tht is very irellevent just like u saying bring any wrestler down, if were going takedown for takedown I'll put any wrestler up against any ju jitsu.. Don't forget were not talking subs, since the start I been talking take down, so I could easily say bring one your jitz guys go wrestle an NCAA wrestler.. Again for the people who can't understand what I'm saying... Ju jitsu is always gonna have better subs wrestlers are always gonna have better takedowns. It's plain and simple put em all together an that's the key.

There really is no point in arguing with you anyways because you're just a "mouth runner" with no skill at all....it shows in your posts and knowledge...you're just uneducated and sit behind a TV...anything outside that would make you cry and or wet your panties...

Hahahahha ok bro, u don't know me or know what I do. U do jitz good for u, expand your knowlege homie. My post was supposed to sound as dumb as your argument, guess u couldn't figure that out. So let me ask why don't more pure jitz guys win Mma fights compared to pure wrestlers. Hmm.

you're just assuming what my knowledge or what I do is...only way for us to settle this clearly would be for you to come down and we'll slap on some MMA gear..I'll even where insteps and foot gear and you can find out....just because I do BJJ on daily basis doesn't mean my gym offers anything else or I've taken other disciplines besides this with belts in other arts as well

and I never said pure BJJ was the best for MMA..etc etc...but take into account a good stand up artist with just wrestling is going to get destroyed by a good stand up artist with BJJ skills...in MMA...look at every UFC champ and tell me which one is pure stand up and wrestling only...Bzzzz none..I'll finish your answer for you...

No see that's where u went wrong I was never questioning your skills and I said multiple times this argument can be hit back and forth u clearly missed my main focus.. And let's see Gsp is champ he takes people down and that's it wrestler/striker. Boring yes. Frankie Edgar wrestler/striker, I would benson in that same category as a wrestler/striker. Jon jones wrestler/striker. Dan Henderson striker/wrestler. These are just some current and old champs. Again though look how bell bj did with jits and boxing, and like I keep saying, when it comes to Mma it's best to know it all and clearly that was stated to the op who was asking and I guess u took that as me saying u only know jitz.

you need to do a little more research..

GSP - black belt BJJ under Gracie Barra

Frankie Edgar - Black Belt BJJ..guess who under? Renzo Gracie - guy in the title of the story - but yes he's a decorated wrestler too

Benson - Brown Belt BJJ - still competes
in BJJ too : http://youtu.be/EgIhNEwX-jY

Jon Jones - Freak..lol

...

You forgot Jose Aldo and Anderson Silva - both BJJ black belts....and Dos Santos - brown belt BJJ...

They might have belts in jitz but every fighter I named used their wrestling in Mma a lot more so u might wanna do some research, u ask anyone that's knows Mma about the above listed fighters what kinda fighters are those guys no one is gonna say they are jitz artist.. And your just making the point I been trying to say a lot more clearer anyone who wants to do Mma should be well rounded in everything.

...both us I think made the point that MMA, you need to be well rounded in everything

and really? Edgar uses his wrestling skills more and not boxing skills? Benson uses his wrestling skills more? ....educate yourself a little more...

the original "argument" started when you stated learn wrestling..I stated instead learn BJJ ...that was it...you turned it into something else ....and NONE of those fighters will say they are wrestlers either...so stop trying to change your argument...
