Depending on the ticket sometimes your able to do traffic school which is good for atleast one point I think.. but if yu didn't request it at the time you were going through court then I think you just have to wait it out now. Points go away in years..

Well shit when I was in court theynever mentioned anything about points just money. So I obviously didn't sign up or get asked if I wanna do that. How many years?

Unless you're eligible for traffic school your stuck with the points. Even if you are eligible and complete the schooling it's only gonna take away 1 point. Aside from that they clear from your record after afew years.

Something I Google......
If you are charged with a two-point violation, you will not beeligiblefortrafficschool. Reckless Driving (23103 VC), Exhibition of Speed (23109 VC), driving at 100 mph (22348 VC) are examples of two point violations.
A charge of Reckless Driving and Exhibition of Speed may be charged as a misdemeanor instead of an infraction. Misdemeanors carry more serious consequences.

From google...
What Points Do As you acquire points, you place yourself in danger of losing your driver's license. The DMV has the right to suspend or revoke your driving privileges if you accumulate a certain number of points over a set period of time.
Four points within a 12-month period Six points in a 24-month period Eight points in a 36-month period Contrary to popular thought, driving records are not automatically cleared of all points once the points are over a year old.
So it looks like if you get another 2-point violation within a year, you're getting suspended, someone correct me if I'm wrong. [ March 06, 2012, 01:12 PM: Message edited by: JUNKYARD5.0 ]

This is spot on... i dealt with this stuff a lot in my late teens/early twenties.
Edit: Wow, turns out that you can get them removed....
If you remain violation or suspension-free, you can get points deducted from your current driving record. Points get negated after a certain time period as shown below One points, and most two point violations, are negated after a three-year period. However, if you fail to appear in court, they remain in your record for five years. Failure to appear in court for a DUI will remain in court for ten years. Taking a Defensive Driving Course enables you to deduct points from your current driving record, and may also qualify you for a reduction in your car insurance rates. No points are deducted for pedestrian or bicyclist violations. [ March 06, 2012, 01:20 PM: Message edited by: Farrell ]

I honestly wasn't trying to burn out right in front of a cop, but it happened N I explained to him how it happened. He's a asshole that deserves a lot of bad karma for all the bullshit he put in the damn police report. It was literally a 5-10 ft. peel out N he wrote on the report that I burned out for at least 100ft. N covered the street east to west with smoke clouds up to 10ft that he couldn't see my vehicle N by the sound he knew I lost control. Oh yeah there was not even a puff of smoke or a centimenter of mark on the street.

A week after I turned 21 I got a dui in my Buick. Good wake up call to say the least.I blew 3 times the legal limit and got 2 points on my dmv record. If I got another moving violation in like 18 months then I would have lost my licence until the 2 points were from the dui were clear. A point lasts 18 months, it at least it did in 09.
Just be cool. Don't do donuts, race/speed or let the tires break loose, for a few months, and by all means don't be an idiot like I was and drive drunk. Ur mustang will appreciate the love from u driving your it conservatively, especially if u improve the quality of the car in the meantime, which is what I did.

Out of curiosity, why didn't u take a picture of the area he accused u of burning out in(with a date-mark)?. If there was no marks I would plead a not guilty by declaration. Write ur own (correct) version of what happened and attatch the date-marked pictures, and send it in. Traffic window, or just mail it in. Cops hate doing paperwork, if he had to go to court for 10 mins to fill out papers it would have been a waste of time (even if its time he/she gets paid for), and the judge would have thrown away the case.
