need to get everyones opinion, If you were a buyer off CA FORDS, Not Craigslist. And you were trying to purchase a part, would it make or break the deal if the seller WAS NOT willing to meet at there home for the Transaction. Here was the deal, I was selling a 5-speed swap. Memeber haggled me down on price every thing was good to go. Until it was time to meet up and make the sale. Buyer absolutley needed to meet at my home instead of meeting up the street at the local Parts Store. I explained to him I dont sell Junk reassured him it worked fine, I have been a member on here for years. This broke the deal. I think its F#@&ing stupid he did this. And it pisses me off, Just trying to see what you guys think [ February 09, 2011, 06:56 PM: Message edited by: LIL_NOTCH ]

I try to avoid meeting at the house too, unless its someone I know. All of my Craigslist transactions are done at the local Chevron or Safeway.

I agree with you. Why does he need to know where you live and what you have in your garage etc. It's all about being safe and comfortable around your surroundings when your meeting someone you don't know. Public spots are always a good idea.

got my vote for the gas station! i would rather buy or sell somewhere public. I have gone to a few peoples houses & it's no big deal. as long as they dont live in a shitty ass neighbor hood..lol.. [ February 09, 2011, 07:09 PM: Message edited by: 68dustin ]

honestly it seems a bit shady, I have heard this from other members as well. The buyer insisted of coming to the house. I don't care what I'm selling, know body is coming to my house. I tend to ignore reply's to FORD SALE when people have been here for little or no time at all. That's why its good to show your face and actually meet up at GTG's from time to time.

If the buyer wanted reassurance he should go buy a brand new transmission. I don't think knowing where someone lives has that big of an impact on the condition of parts.
It's true that it seems less likely that someone would sell a junk part from home but it never guarantees it. I recall a number of threads where people have claimed to pick up junk parts, cars, hacked jobs, owned money and they have each others names, numbers, and home/shop location.
It's also the benefit of both parties to meet at a public location. The buyer may possibly be a thief and at the same time the OP could be a DEXTER type serial killer on a vengeance to kill every lowballer or flake.

depends on how the person comes off on the phone. if the part turns out to be shit.. i want to atleast have a house to come back to and knock on the door.. i have meet up with more than a few people on this broad.. and never have i ever meet anyone any where other than their house.. i didn't plan it this way.. just worked out like that.. to me if the person is a broad member why not let them come to your house and shoot the shit & get their parts..? as to seeing what someone has in the garage.. i have shown lots of people my set up.. and when i have shown up at people houses. and 9 out of 10 times.. it turns into show & tell.. if your going to live with the idea everyone is out to get you.. i think that is a sad way to live.. i got into cars because, i like to hang out with other car guys and talk cars... but.. that is just my take on things.. ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)

Alarms and guns, I've had a lot of members come to my house to buy stuff. Haven't been worried yet about anyone coming by. I can see the guys worries though if your buying a big ticket item it's nice to know you can get unto contact with that person again.

I've sold a few parts on here and only two people have met me at my house and the rest have been at gtg like Vic hubbard or the union city in and out.
I don't blame you for not letting that person meet You at your house. It does sound fishy ass hell that he called off the deal
