Looking into getting my first handgun this weekend (got my heart set on a beretta 92fs). I know theres alot of gun owners on here looking for someone to guide me in the right direction . Looking for a good not overpriced gunstore. Willing to travel a little if necessary.

Triple A Sporting Goods here in Vallejo is good.
Irvington Arms in Fremont is also good.

I'm sure there's one close to you that has good prices on what you want. Good Luck and be safe. [patriot]

Yea I been looking into the kimbers also , I just dont wanna spend more than $700 . If I was to find a good deal in a used one it would be great. But how would I go about buying a gun from a private owner if i've never owned one and have to get certified and all that?

Go to any gunshop and ask them if you can take the handgun safety cert.
If you find a used one and do a private party transfer. Both partys go to the gun shop. You both sign some papers, Pay the shops transfer fee and then you get you handgun after the waiting period. [patriot]

triple a here in vallejo is good. if you want a kimber theres a few spots in marin county that handle them and theres a spot in san rafael and castro valley that deal in them as well. i seen somebody mentioned irvington arms. i used to go there. the owner frank is hella cool but after they told me to come on down and they would throw a comp on my ar and get there and then they didnt feel like it after an hour drive and bridge tool. yeah they can suck my dick on that one fuck irvington arms. slowback 67 was there he seen it happen as well!

Dam thats a good deal i was looking at those too,for the price seems like a great gun , also looking at the taurus pt1911 but theres mixed reviews about it..im still kind of sold on the Beretta 92fs, if the US military uses it as their standard issue sidearm , cant really go wrong with them I think.

why not a glock its been deemed the ak of pistols. and if you join gssf you get your pistol at cost. only down fall is you have to go all the way to sj and deal with lcaction but its worth it i think a std glcok with the gssf membership can be had for $450 plus tax and dros.

Not a huge fan of the looks of a glock. I've shot one at the range before and is a great gun but I cant see myself buying something that Im not aesthetically pleased with.

In the Sacramento area I stick to Wild Sports, as far as 1911's I have a Springfield, you don't need a $1000 Kimber to do what a $500 Springfield will do. One thing about 1911's is the possibility of more FTF issues as opposed to a Glock, you can do anything to a glock and it will still shoot forever, IMHO asthetics go out the window when rounds are coming my way and I need to survive.

I sold my Springfield GI 1911 in .45 and bought an RIA 1911 Tactical in 9mm. Best upgrade I've made. The RIA is a great gun for the money. For $500, it comes with some nice features you'd normally only get on a $900 gun. It's very accurate too. More so than my old Springfield.
