i dont know if this thread ever made it to the general talk section but this pisses me off that a shop will allow its employees to trash someone elses property, especially a car! more than just mustang owners put an ass ton of time and money into their project and for them to pull some shit like this....! they need to lose all buisness from this site and many others! here is the thread, pass this shit around and make these assholes wish they would have done the right thing.

With over 8 years in the past as a car Audio Intaller, and probably 500+ Alarms installed I have never seen a car start itself. I have worked in shops that did numerous remote starts a day, and have never heard of this from a customer or installer. I would have the alarm ripped out, and sent to DEI if it is a DEI brand and have it inspected to see if it is faulty. As a learning lesson for people with remote start on their vehicle with a clutch, remember to always disable thus feature of your alarm before you take it to someone to be worked on. It is as easy as fliiping a switch.

Not if you install it correctly, and find a nuetral safety switch if avalable, install your own magnetic switches, or utilize an alarm that wont allow you to remote start the car unless you left the vehicle in nuetral and running when you got out. There are ways to do it right. My wifes stick had remote start on it, and I wired in relays on the clutch that would only bypass the clutch during remote start, but during a regular cranking cycle she still had to press the clutch in. It also had a nuetral safety swithch.

Wow why was that thread even locked!?? Looks like some one knows these owners or mangers from this shop. No need to LOCK a post .the guy just wants some advice and telling u what happened to him. That's something good to share so people cAn be informed. This will be a hard one... But I would take it to the judge.. But I would never put a auto start in a manual . Sucks this happened. Let us know more info [patriot]

Agreed. While I agree with the majority of thread locks on this board that one being locked does not make sense. That is exactly the type of info people come to this board for.

The op never said what the body shop was going to do about it. He said he was pissed that it happened and then wanted to sue or call the news station over it. We never once got any idea of what the shop was actually going to do about it, did they tell him to fuck off? He called me ignorant because I pointed out the fact he had an auto start alarm on a manual trans car, that pisses me off because I've been here for YEARS and I'm always down to help anyone in need. I wasn't a dick about it, just trying to point out an angle the body shop will try to use against him. Fuck it, just shows where this site is going and will end up if things don't change..... enjoy.

Ignorant is putting a auto start in a manual car. Whether they are lying or not I think they can plead there case about the alarm and win. I am sure they can bring all kinds of documentation showing they are not to be used on manual cars.

Not to mention him admitting on a public forum the alarm was installed that way, now the original thread is locked and can't be edited so it may be his undoing in the end.

I say take it to Judge Judy, I need some afternoon entertainment. The point is I do not think it matters if they hit the button or not. They can say the car was not safe. The only question I would have if there are any cameras like the guy said in the other post. If they did it while driving then they should pay but if they were not in the car and hit the button or whatever then I doubt you will get anything.

On a business note they are a body shop I would think it would just be easier for them to fix it at no charge and make the whole thing go away.

No matter what its a fucked up situation and I think they should take care of the damage no matter what. Being its a shop they might try to put it off on the alarm and who installed it.

I worked in a shop and we had a guy put the wheels on a car while it was in the air without putting any lugs on it after. As he was working on the other side a wheel fell off the car, bounced, hit a floor jack and the handle dented the shit out of a quarter panel on the car next to it. We told the shop manager and he decided to let the car go out with the damage hoping the customer didn't see it till later where we couldn't be blamed. Some shops are shady so you never know.

I thought remote starts were only allowed on auto's or at least recommended. If this headed to court, i think the shop would probably be held partially at fault because someone would have to hit the button for it to move. Cars just dont crash on their own. Or start up on their own. But then again a dumbass putting remote start on a manual should be partially responsible too.

Driver that puts remote start on manual transmission = FAG

The way I see it is if the car had remote jet packs on it and the shop knew about it then the responsibility is with the shop. They did not have to accept the car. If it was unsafe to work on hen they should have said up front that they cannot work on the car unless the autostart feature was disabled (or at least the battery taken out).

Crummy position for both parties...but the vehicle did change hands and with that the responsibility changes hands as well.
