Looking to pick one up soon, Just need a little bit of input.. When buying one, what do you all think of buying one with a KB or Whipple already installed? would that drive you away? Are the engines reliable enough to buy and not really have to worry about it taking a dump right away as long as its got lower mileage? I want a stock one I think, but I know I'll end up modding it anyway, and it'd probably save a lot of money if I bought an already modded one but I don't know if that's the best choice or not. There's a pretty bad ass deal on a whipple cobra not far from me at all, I just don't know if I want to risk it with a modded one or just take the long expensive route of getting a stock one

You can definitely save a siginificant amount of money if you buy one already modded. That said, I wouldn't be willing to touch one unless you know the history of the car and are very confident it hasn't been beat on... this is probably unlikely. If you don't know anything about the car and are still interested, I feel it would be worth paying the guys at AED a couple hundred (or more) dollars to give it a thorough inspection.
I bought my car a few years ago, and was only willing to buy a low mile, stock car. I sent it over to AED for all the mods afterwards. I am very happy with the way it turned out, and know the car's history. The only negative aspect is that I have about twice the amount into it than it's worth... I'll be keeping it forever!

I say buy a modded one...but have it checked out prior to purchase. The shortblocks are pretty stout. Even built setups with aftermarket/rebuilt engines are going cheap due to the economy. Don't be afraid of a car with mods. At least with mods done (correctly) you have less to spend in the long run. There are HIGHLY modded ones with less than 50k on them going for under 19k here in Kansas.
And while shopping for one, don't believe ANYONE who says the car was babied. That's like saying they slept in bed with a drunk chick and nothing happened. Riiiiight.

If it was modded, me personally would try to buy off a older person (older the better) LOL. Not to say older people don't step on it, but they more mature about it.

Buying a modded car will save you a ton of cash in the long run.
A whipple or KB is a good mod. I would just make sure that the car has been tuned by a reputable tuner. Also, find out who did all the work and make sure it was done right.
If you have any doubts then I would take it to a mechanic and have them check it out before you buy.
Good luck

If I were you I'd find one with less then 50k on the clock, the lower the miles means the slimmer the chance of it being abused, buying it off a grandpa is the way to go IMO....

When buying anything high performance like an 03 Cobra, you need to know your buying a car that has been beat on and raced! Anyone that says no is a liar IMO! I would just get it checked out buy ford (about $100) or like someone said make an appt. with AED!
Good luck!
