whats ur input on the best sounding mufflers on a 66 289 with a lil cam hedman headers, and magnaflow x pipe? thanks!

2 chamber flowmasters!x-pipes are good,im runnin an h. Ive heard x-pipes rob a little top end power,maybe someone else can give u more info on that.2 different exhaust shops told me that but when I replaced my h with an x on another maverick I had it felt better on the bottom and top,made it a little quieter but it was a healthier sound. ![[patriot]](graemlins/patriot.gif)

In my opinion the 1 chambers sound like dog shit rusted out mufflers, might as well just run straight pipe and save the money. 2 chmbers, Mac Flow-Path's, Bassani and the Borla XR-1 all have a good sound that isn't annoying. I guess the real question is what kind of sound are you looking for? If you want it to sound like a muscle car then go with one of the previous ones, if you just want as loud as you can get and don't care if it sounds like shit get the 1 chambers.

im looking at bassani or borla. but i wish i just knew what they sounded like on my car. i love the sound bassanis make on a 02 gt and i love it.

Yeah the 1 chambers dont really have a quality sound,they pretty much sound like glasspacks or straight pipes.Pretty much anything but the 1 chambers will sound good.LoLThats just my preference though, everybody has there own taste.

The Bassani mufflers are on the quiet side from what I've heard but still sound good. The Boral XR-1 sound mean as hell without the "me too" chambered muffler sound. I had Flowmaster's back when they first came out but they're even more overplayed than 4 lug Cobra R's..... I had a set of those too when they were rare and cool! ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)

i myself like the one chamber flowmaster i have some on my 66 f100 i love them just put some on my boys 72 chevell he cant turn the dam thing off he likes it so much i also have a boy with a 03 mach 1 that thing sounds bad as hell oh yea also have a friend with a 96 cobra that has a set his neihbors hate them you will get the same sound as a 2 chamber just a lil louder.
