Topic: Had my first racist/stereotypical experience of the year

So every wed/friday we have this lady who comes 2 my job to sell tamales (hella good). I go 2 get my dozen & pay but she is out of change. This lady behind me hs a $20 also so we both walk like 20 ft to the gas station to get change. Mind you today is friday so im just wearing sweats & a tee.
As I walk in I go 2 the counter & see an older indian woman behind it. I ask her if she can break a 20 & she throws up her hands & says no. So I ask if I buy something can she give me change & she does the same. Then the older white woman I walked in with comes up with a arizona drink & the lady happily breaks her 20. At this point im pissed and like WTF as im standing there the whole time.
So I proceed 2 grab a cheap lighter & throw it on the counter & say "I thought u didn't have change". She just shook her head & gave me my cash.
Many will never know how that shit feels. Treated like shit based on the color of my skin. Figured I would share some of the things people of color go through in life so maybe others will learn. ![[patriot]](graemlins/patriot.gif)

some people think just cause your hispanic they automatically think you dont know how to speak ENGLISH and ask you if you know how. SO i tell them in PERFECT ENGLISH that i dont. OTHER hispanic people think that i dont know how to speak SPANISH and talk shit behind my back while im present, SO i speak SPANISH to them. DAMN THEY FEEL HELLA STUPID

What really sucks is this race thing will never end here in America. It sucks to go through something like that and I really don't know what it's like to have something like that happen. I appreciate you telling this story and letting people know what it's like to have this happen and I can only imagine what I would do if I were in your shoes. I'm Hungarian myself but were all just classified as white. I like the gypsy jokes though

Before I read this I was talking to my coworker on how I hate it when I go to a store or a business and people just go AMIGO,it makes me want to punch them.

Hahahaha man u had me hella weak. But my dmv building is right behind a gas station & some other spots around it. This sweet ass hispanic woman is out there selling tomales every week. Been doin it for years. I will bring some 2 the car show tomorrow. Haha
But I don't think it was a language issue. I had my money out when I asked if she could break it. Then I pointed 2 something I wanted 2 buy & she told me no again

50 deep i am sorry to hear that this happend to you it isnt right and it should not happen to any of us.
i can relate to you a lot and i am sorry to say that it is my opinion that us minoritys are just as rasist to each other then white poeple are.
A lot of indian poeple are very rasist to other minorites. this really makes me very angry. my own pakistani people many years ago were opressed by british rule. so we as a poeple know what it is like to be looked down upon and yet we still do it to others. (same thing for indians) and yet as a culture they still adopt the white is right attitude.
now not all indian and pakistani people are this way the majority of those who have lived here in america are actully very open to other races and other cultures.
when i hear of an indian or pakistani person being rasist like this i truly feel embasresed and deeply saddened that this happens.

50 Deep I feel you. My girlfriend is Indian and her mom, sister and most of the people in her family especially the older ones do not like black people. It was a shock to me because some in her family are darker than me. At least from some white people they hate you because of the color of your skin. But with some Indians, they hate you because of your ancestory. But hey, life goes on. There's more people in this world that care less about race, than those that want to hate. I say f**k'em and kick'em to the curb.
