i don't get this. someone please make this statement make sense to me. i see this a lot on craigslist and it's usually for a dollar car/truck, above $10,000 at least.

does the seller really expect someone to show up with $10,000 in their pockets so they can take a test drive? i wouldn't be dumb enough to do that. will $500 cash in hand be enough to show serious interest to warrant a test drive?

how does this really work? i've never used that statement in my ads before, but every time i see it, i'm bewildered by the seller. maybe i'm just hungry and not thinking straight [Razz] .

im sure a bank loan check would do as well.cash in hand is just a phrase.just like when you buy a new car.

basicly the seller wants only people that are really out there intrested in buy buying his vehicle. hes prob tired of people test driving it or like i said, people that really have the money to buy it.Sometimes there people that are just bsing [patriot]

Its a pretty ridiculous statement IMO. I wouldnt tell anyone I was sitting on a bundle. Then on the other hand, what do you do? Ask someone to show you the money or ask them to let you hold the money? I can BS with 10k in my pocket or not. When you sell a car you have to be prepared for window shoppers, tire kickers, bs'ers and low ballers. Those are all pretty synonymous with selling a car.

I would never even consider buying from someone with an attitude like that. That makes me think that either you don't want to sell or your car is really a pile. People who know their car is solid are going to let a serious buyer drive it (the exception being a 16 year old trying to buy a GT500 or something.) Nobody says you have to sell your car...

Be careful , I have herd that people on Craig's list are telling people to have cash in hand and when you show up they take the money and run.
