Came across a set of cheap wheels, and need some center caps chromed.

Any places locally in the peninsula? Looking for a decent price, good quality, and quick turn around time.

Thanks

Not sure you can chrome plate that material? My Chrome Cobra centers actually had a piece of "chrome" plastic material attached to the surface, bout 1/8" thick.

Hope this helps.

Ok, I've have seen 93 cobra chrome center caps before and they do not have a chrome plastic material attached to the surface. The whole cap was chromed. [Wink]

Polished maybe, but not chromed. I had the same setup 7 years back and the same thing attached to the cap. Wouldn't ever know it unless you removed the cap and looked at the side closely.

I called a couple chrome shops in the bay area a couple months ago, and their prices are VERY expensive. They told me chrome is going up in price.

This is VERY expensive and I dont think you will find any shops around here to do it.

But if you really want it done then look up chrome plating shops in LA (yahoo yellow pages, etc). They do it more commonly than shops around here, from what I have been told by a chrome plating shop around here when I was looking to have some door handles plated.

Dude,
I have been down this road and was just trying to help out. I really really dont think you will find a place, locally. I wasnt able to from sacramento down to hollister. I must have called every plating shop I could find.

One guy wanted to send it to the folks I recommended you to and mark up the pricing.

Go to the website and call the other number, not their plastics division.

Keep the info JUST IN CASE you dont find a local plater.

Good luck.

Juts called there other number and its not working either. Thanks though. Just got off the phone with wheel replicas and asked what material the cap was made from. It's brushed aluminum. I do appreciate your help. Will probably just hold on to them until I find a local place or until wheel techniques in santa clara starts chroming in 2 months.

Thanks [patriot]

Like I said, good luck bro.

Their numbers work, you just have to leave a message.

Give them a shot if you get tired of waiting.

Peace.

Just called the first one and they started asking me if they could drill a hole through my center cap, because when chroming it has to have good conductivity. I was like "{what the hell are you talking about", I just need some center caps chromed. LOL. I emailed him a pic of the center caps so he would know what I'm talking about.

2nd # doesn't do chroming. [Frown]

Thanks [patriot]

Even if you could get the whole cap plated it would add material to it and make it harder to put on and take off. The plastic chrome on top is the best solution.

Good LUCK!

I dont really care how its done. I'll leave the details for the pros. What I need is the NAME or NUMBER to a shop that does this service for sure and is in the area. Not a shop that might be able to do it or that needs to look at the part before they do it or some other BS excuse to take up my time. This has been done for years and I am most certainly not the 1st one to ever do this. If anyone has ever had this done please chime in. [patriot]

There very well could be a reason why those wheels do NOT come with a chrome center cap.

I worked next to Valley Plating in Santa Clara for 10 years and they constantly had the Harley guys coming in and out of their place for chrome work. I'd try calling them
