All the rumors were pointing to this, couldn't have been THAT surprising. But, there will be no excuses for Jr anymore if he doesn't win. And, with their success in the COT, might as well rename it the Hendrick Cup next year.

Crazy....I'm at a loss of words. I know it's all business when it comes down to it but it's just NUTS to think about Jr driving for Hendrick's team....we'll see how it goes. I'm still a #8 fan but I doubt his number is going with him....LOL.

Cash talks, Hendrick has to decide just how much it's worth to buy the number from DEI. Hendrick could also do an exchange and give DEI the rights to #5, which also has value

Hendrick is now the NY Yankees of Nascar.
Ralph Earnhardt Jr. doesn't have anymore excuses now..
I remember when he said "money isn't my motivation" but this move speaks otherwise!

If I was Jr I would have tried to resign with DEI and make a deal where I could buy as much into DEI as I possibly could. His Dad built DEI and I would want to own as much of it as possible and carry out the name. But, I know he didn't want to drive for his step mom and I remember him complaining about how the supposed "owner" of DEI was never around to get involved like Gibbs or Hendrick. Lets face it Hendrick Motorsports has the winning touch like the PATS and Spurs...who wouldn't want to be apart of that team.

I've been sayin' it since Jr. drove the 5 car a month back. I knew this would be the case, it makes perfect sense, really. As someone already mentioned, HMS is now the "Yankees of NASCAR". It'll be the world against HMS, this is gonna rally all of the non-Hendrick/Jr. fans. Great move for Jr, HMS, and NASCAR. I'm interested to see how all the Gordon haters/Jr. lovers handle this.
