It'll run you a minimum of 40k, most likely more.

Correct, if you got two free cars, a Miata and a Mustang, you'd still pay around 40 to do it CHEAP. I thought long ago it was an easy swap. But fabbing up all the parts to fit like brakes, drivelines, EVERYTHING ads up. I spoke with 3 different older men who all had well over 60k into each of them.

40k is alot of money, would it still be that much if i just wanted it to run and not look good cuz all i really want is for it to run i could see spendin 5 or 10 but 40 dammmm

347 good find. I'd expect he did all the work himself, indluding the fabrication of parts.

thanks, i guess this guy makes the kits. here is a link to the kit off of the same site. http://www.monstermiata.com/Monster_V8_Kit.asp looks like it wouldnt be too expensive to build one of these.... i would just be afraid of all the nickel and dime crap.

I remember seeing in some import mag that they put a carb 302 with nitrous and other goodies in a second gen. RX-7 for like $2005. It pulled mid 11's if i recall correctly. IT was for some competition to see who could make the fastest car with a certain amount of money. Dont know if you want to road race this or just make a fun car, if your looking for the second option try looking into this.

I will think twice before laughing at one of those again. I will listen for a 302 motor very carefully.

I'd much, much, much , much ,much rather build an FFR cobra kit car than a miata.
cuz at the end of the day, its still a miata!

That was Grassroots Motorsports. If you want low Budget BadAss, check out the Cahllenge they do each year. You can only spend the dollars that amount to the year, so for this year $2006.00. You wouldn;t beleive what some guys can come up with for that.
I think you could do the Miata Project a lot cheaper the 40k, as long as you get your donors farily inexpensive. I know Spec Series Miata guys that have less than 15k into a fully race prepped Miata. They aren't that expensive. Again, it all depends on how much of the work you can do yourself.

They come up on Ebay every once in a while. I looked at one in Sac and he was asking $20k and that was with CA BAR certification.
If I wanted to do a cheap swap, I'd probably do a 240z V8 conversion. No smog and you can go wild with the motor.

i thought about doin that too but too many people have those and i dont think ive ever seen a 5.0 miata on the street. now that i think about it i wouldnt really care if it was street legal but if i took the time to make it legit then it would be that much better
