Well i want to know how you can make DVD players play while driving. I know they have a option on them so when the e-brake is released the screen wont work. Someone told me that there is a way to by pass it. Well i want to know what DVD players can do it on and what ones you cant.

Yeah but I heard like on the pioneer avic-n1 you can do it, but on the avic-n2 it wont work or it takes more than that. Or some shit, if it works on the avic-n2 im gonna buy it but if not im not gonna get it. Is there a way you can find out for me?? Since you’re the internet man. Also about the trac button, i didnt have time to order it before i left, but im gonna as soon as i get back. Along with some other goodies muahahahahahah!!!! [Whoo Whooooo!]

I want to know which ones do that also, but have a detachable face or anti-theft of some sort.

If I already got my radio jacked 2x, I don't want it to be a $1k DVD player either.

the wire that goes that goes to the e brake, just that the wire and ground it somewhere so the unit will think that the e brake is engauged and you can play movies while driving.

exactly, all the e-brake wire does is create a ground when the brake is set, put it on a switch so you can toggle it on or off. Remember that it is illegal and you face a HEAVY fine and the car is impounded if caught with it working while driving. Put the switch in!!! The Avic-N2 will not work with this bypass. It has a internal gyro that detects motion, plus with its GPS it can tell the cars moving so it wont work. But it can still be used as a video source for other monitors [patriot]

I assume you are talking about the Car Speed Signal Input or Reverse Gear Signal Input...

for what its worth, the Avic-n1 and n2 have virtually the same install manual.

No im not talking about those. Those are some of the imputs you must connect for the GPS, the unit phsically has a Gyro inside it. Im aware of the installation as I install Avic-n1, N2's and D1 and D2's. If you really want to know how to do it its risky but.....

To bypass the video lockout for the AVIC d1 and N2

Underneath the unit is a small silver sticker, peel this back. There are 2 contacts with the label R197. Clean the wax off these with alcohol, making sure there is nothing left on them. Then drop a bit of solder between these to connect them. Be careful, as you will probably only get one shot to get this right.

Good luck

i know there are some tricks that dont involve soldering for the n2. one involved routing the the external monitor output back into the monitor input and youd be able to watch movies no prob. its something similar to that.

ah, ha! I knew there had to be a work around... I'll jot that down. I just looked on ebay, and they have a few auctions that claim to have to work around for that installed too.
Thanks man [patriot]

So let me get this straight.....you can bypass on both the avic-n1 and n2, but its more difficult on the n2 and more of a risk to mess it up with the whole soldering deal. Does anyone know where i can pick up a pioneer avic-n1, i have checked ebay but the only ones i have seen are rebuilt ones. Thanks for all input

its only more of a risk if you have a total tool solder it [Wink] [Razz]

I might be wrong, but I believe the n1 is the older model... so trying to find a new one is gonna be tough.

theres several ebay stores that are selling the n2 with the mod done to it already... that might be a good way to go.

I forgot to ask... why do you want to watch a dvd while you drive? for your kids?

they disable the dvd function so you wont watch a movie, while driving, that would occupy your shifter hand. [Wink] [Smile] lol not saying that you would...
