to have quality block work done your probably looking at $1500 ish alone,
plus parts so you may as figure $600-$1000 and that's re using your crank and rods and that figure depends on what pistons you are planning on. could be more $
If you are planning on running the original 1970 heads setup up for leaded fuel, plan on dropping some serious money, better off getting used aluminum at that point, which is going to require RR.
Link bars are going to run you about $360-$400 for some morels and another $250 or so on the camshaft, really you're better off hitting up ed curtis or someone for a custom unit at $300-$350.
personally I think you're almost better off contacting woody at ford strokers and getting a budget DIY 408 short block delivered to your door and sell your old motor as a core. you might luck out and get a roller block from him and you can convert to o.e. roller lifters/dog bone for about $200 and sell your old motor as a core. I personally prefer link bar. if that happens, I think i may have a set of dog bones and a spider laying around you can have.
The absolute most budget option is buy a used f150 that runs great, pull the motor, cam swap it new gaskets and convert to front sump. atleast you can possibly use the serpentine setup and part the rest out or sell the truck as a roller and be done for little money. you can find used f-150's for pretty cheap if you look!

Guess at this point just get new one piece gasket for the oil pan and clean it up. run it it till i can get the 408 kit i want and heads tw 205 11r's
Been looking at fordstrokers at their 408w stroker Forged kit 0 balance, -22dish pistons(10.5 comp), arp bolts, .200 pins tool pins,. both heads and stroker kit are about the same in price 2,200
will be going link bar lifters instead of wish bones and custom cam from ed, already have a New Edelbrock RPM Air Gap intake that will get match ported to the heads
Plan on just N/A pump gas maybe spray later down the road reason for going forged assembly. but will use a stock Roller block since no where near the hp limit of a windsor [ 2016-12-28, 11:39 AM: Message edited by: 70stang351w ]
