It's finally time for me to register my cougar and want to know what I should expect to pay or any fees I should be worried about. The car has not been registered since 1993. I have the original black plates with an old blue 93 sticker in it. Plates look very old and sticker doesn't look like it had another one on top of it. I know I should have handled this first but I got the car running pretty quick(3 weeks) so I didn't see much of a problem

You're gonna have to do a vin verification. Chp office can help you with that. Best bet is to pay a person to come out and do it at your house. You can find them on CL sometimes.
The plates will need to be examined by the dmv "historian" to verify they are in good shape in order for them to be re-issued.
If I remember correctly this only starts the title paperwork. Once you obtain that you will be issued a temp reg and be able to conclude a brake/lamp inspection.

I didn't have the title for my 67 cougar, pretty much got a chp to come out and verify the vin and sign off the paper work. Never had to get any other inspections. Just make sure you don't have any other vins on the car. He gave me a little crap about my driver door being swapped, But basically told me to take vin tag off door.
